Look at the profile and you know why it's possible.
If you really look at the profile, then you would see it's not possible. 61 km/h for the first hour would mean they would be at km 61 on the profile after one hour. That is well beyond the end of the false flat section, which was 45 km long.

Tinkoff and especially Majka. Worser is not possible.

It looks like he has some teammates in the chasing group. I don't understand their tactics.. Is Majka going for the most undercover top5 in GT history ? Such no panache until now.

Reminds me of Alpe d'Huez stage in 2011. Short stage. Lots of action early.
Those short stages are often a success.

Remember Col de Chaussy last year when Contador, Nibali and Valverde attacked with 100k+ to go. Combined with a tough stage the day before, it's always good.

Now that Dombrowski has been cut, they will, surely.

To defend his 12th place in the GC? Bah. Not his battle. Losing time today might actually be a blessing in disguise.

Now that Dombrowski has been dropped things may change though.

Poljanski is seriously sick. Taking antibiotics, isolated from the rest of the team, hoping to get better for stage 19/20. There are no other good climbers in that team

Wonder if this is a one time thing because of the rest day, or if Chaves is fading in the last week like he did at the Vuelta
