Kittel has to be the most one dimentional rider out there? I feel like every time there is even a speedbump he gets dropped.
And some people call Kristoff a one trick pony!
Well, he was very impressive on Hatta Dam in Dubai.

But that was the final, short effort.

What happened to Gallopin? Must have had a mechanical because from attacking off the front in the last 4km he ended up 2 minutes down :(

A finale contested by a load of sprinters who either just aren't that fast any more or were never that fast is always sort of entertaining. But all credit to the not that fast sprinters for being in position to fight for the win, while the fast sprinters were dropped.

Maybe after he got caught he figured he'd better lose some time so that he won't be marked if he attacks.

According to pro cycling stats he has been awarded same time as winner, so mechanical in last 3k, Terpstra aswell

Official website aswell, 16th overall

Could well be. In the same position as Spilak from now on then... forget decent GC position and just go for stage win/s.

Kittel is the new Cavendish in that respect ;)

Cav has never been anywhere as near as bad at getting dropped as Kittel

OK, thanks. Funnily enough PCS is usually my first port of call for results, but this time I checked the ASO official site instead.

His goal is a top 5 in the GC so no. Had a flat at 1.5k from the finish.

Thanks, thought it would surely be a mechanical as I also assumed he was aiming for a high GC spot. I could well understand the logic of Kwibus' suggestion though as that would be the only other explanation were it not a mechanical.

Just a question, could Matthews be a contender in Tour of Flanders?

I wonder why he never has raced that race.

Talansky was at the front with 8k to go yet finished 3.30 down. That's a hell of a mechanical?!

Like Impey got a mechanical with 3.5km to go and then sat up and finished 5.11 behind - Save yourself for another day.

Swift worked for Thomas/sprinted too early. The bad luck continues!

That's hardly bad luck, his decisions.

True but Rowe and Stannard were nowhere and Swift, who has no cobbled pedigree that I know of, was the guy who (badly) tried to protect Thomas on the final dirt section. Had Rowe and Stannard been there he wouldn't have expended that energy and he might even have had a bit of a leadout. I can't believe Sky would have planned to leave Thomas with only Swift, so I think it is bad luck for Swift that Rowe and Stannard cracked on the final climb.

Did you watched last 40km?! Stannard and Rowe pull the whole group for at least 20-25km and you want them to be in the final! Freaking Cancellara would not be able to do that! Anyway Swift made a good move going up early, that was his only chance and he nearly succeeded. All those guys in the final are faster than him.

Ben Swift remains the slowest sprinter in the world to not only hold down a job on a big team but to also have that team actually support his ambitions on a reasonably regular basis. I can only conclude that he has pictures of Brailsford fondling a goat.

If DVP was healthy he would not be sprinting.

I wonder if Bling could have got bonus seconds on the line today had Impey been there with him for some sort of leadout. Quite an unfortunate mechanical, although still a good result today for orica to stay out of trouble.

If DVP was healthy he would not be sprinting.

So why was he sprinting for the last six years? Were they using him as a temporary replacement while they were waiting for Danny Van Poppel's voice to break?

I'm pretty sure no one has ever called Milan-San Remo and Tour of Flanders winner Kristoff one dimensional. Not able to win Paris-Roubaix? Sure. One dimensional? Not really.

I had the same thought yesterday. I think that RvV could suit him very well.
