Great racing by Contador, great strength and determination by Thomas.

Good sport requires good competition, therefore excellence by at least 2 competitors, and that is what made this such good racing.

I can understand why this will have bee frustrating for those partisan towards Contador, but that is why I find cycling more enjoyable to follow without having any die-hard favourite.

If Contador had outsprinted Wellens (however unlikely that might have been), the extra bonus time would have made the time difference 0: would it have been down to fractions of a second on the TTT, or Contador because he won a stage, or what?

this first.

Regardless, this was hardly one of the most exciting stages ever as people are claiming. Some back and forth grind doesn't make it an epic. Sure, it was very nice.

Wet blanket :D Let us actually enjoy the 2 hour high for a bit longer :)

Chapeau lad, brilliant reason to chase down a teammate...

He chased down the first chase group, ffs. Not the front group!

Lotto-Soudal rode a perfect race, regarding of the classification.

If the second group caught the lead group then why wouldn't Gallopin want to be in the mix?

Shame the result is like it is, but it was a great performance by Bertie and it's also great that Zakarin is out of the podium. It was a first time in my life I enjoyed TLMRTP

It is ridiculous to suggest Thomas deserves this win more than Contador because he hasn't won as much as Contador. Contador was the strongest rider hands down and deserved the win, unfortunately he got defeaten by the parcours.

Thomas deserves this win more than Contador because he got the stage bonuses and results. Doesn't take anything away from Contador who was also fantastic but Thomas deserved the win.

Lotto-Soudal rode a perfect race, regarding of the classification.

He helped Thomas get back to the group, then Thomas went directly to the front and almost managed to chase down the front trio.

Wellens had a pretty sure win and Gallopin put the win in danger. It is not debatable that Gallopin helping Thomas made Lotto's chance to win the stage lower.

Yeah sure, go on and rub some salt in the wound. He should be thanking his lucky stars that stage 3 got cancelled.

they all raced the parcours. he was beaten by Thomas who evidently planned on the need to chase back on todays stage by using a 54 ring today. Tactics and planning worked out well for him.

Snotty brat. Yeah sure, go on and rub some salt in the wound. He should be thanking his lucky stars that stage 3 got cancelled.

He gives a very modest interview, respects your favourite rider and he's a brat for doing it? What did you want him to say exactly?
