I really wanted to see that final :(
But seriously, it wasnt that much snow, right? Was it really necessary? I mean we have already in the Giro that neutralizations of of descents work perfectly.

As much as it's a shame that the stage got cancelled, I have to say that this absurdity and sense of anything can happen is one of the things I love about this sport.

Cyclists today are a load of pussies, in the past they raced in a way bad situation and were epic stages.

Well, you're a pussy because humans used to live in caves and now u live in a house.

Luckily for us, we keep evolving and so does the sport.

Steven de Jongh:
"Why not go to Mont Brouilly by bus and do a few circuits there, the snow was only an issue above 600m and Brouilly is below that. Now it is just a lost day".

Lefevre
"It was the right decision but it was made too late"

Wow so Matthews now has a legitimate chance of winning Paris Nice. Incredible.

Does anyone know if he was genuinely dropped today or just caught out a split?

Oh well, sure the human species evolved a lot in 50 years...

Just 2 yaers ago, the probably isn't them being "pussies". The problem is the roads on descents were snowy and not cleared. That is very dangerous. Of course, they could haveorganised a Plan B in case of this and have a flat stage with the HTF at Mont Brouilly, then we'll have the finish ASO wanted without the crashes.

I guess it was the right decision. It's really too bad, but there were parts that really weren't possible to ride with a bike.
I'm nostalgic and like the old images as well and if there was only uphill they wouldn't/shouldn't cancel the race, but there were also descents coming and high speed on flat snowy roads is crazy as well.

I do not agree with the riders/management that scream they all knew it was going to snow and they shouldn't have started from the beginning at all. If anything changes all the time it's the weather and it's prediction. Sure there was a big chance, but what if they cancelled the stage and it wouldn't have snown?

Organisers did everything right if you ask me.
Maybe they should've started the race only on the final lap and make it a short race, but tbh that sucks as well and the same applies as cancelling the entire stage beforehand. What if there wouldn't be snow?

The sarcastic part of me thinks: good thing the stage was cancelled: the guys on motorbikes could have fallen and got hurt :D .

The more reasonable part of me says: good call.

The nostalgic part of me dreams: a rider could have gone all-out, risk it all, win, and become a legend.

I don't mind if the reasonable part prevailed. I also try to put myself in the organizers' shoes. What if one (or more) rider(s) suffered a career-ending injury or even worse...try to shave in the morning, look in the mirror, knowing that you made the doomed call.

We live in a europe where workers;s are better protected in their environment than in the past, the race organisers have a dut of care towards the riders and if sad people want to call them pussies it reflects more on the name callers than the organisers or riders

They needed to move literally everything back a month starting in about September, after the Worlds but before Lombardia so that Lombardia went back into October where it belongs. We've had a wintersports season curtailed and seriously damaged by a lack of snow until well into January, with ski resorts losing fistfuls of money and events in Alpine skiing, XC skiing, Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping and Biathlon all being either cancelled or relocated, or runs having to be shortened or held on several loops of a smaller circuit due to a lack of snow, and now their season finishes in the next couple of weeks, and the bike races are all being screwed over by the weather.

It would have been cool if the organizers said, you can stop, everybody gets the same time, no bonus seconds or mountain/sprint-points, but if you want to go on for stage honors, you're allowed to do so. That would've left a significantly reduced peloton of riders who feel like they can handle these circumstances.

Anyway, does anyone know what the weather will be like tomorrow?

From now on the weather should be ok.
