Great race. Congrats to Fabu!

He won the race for the last tight corner and that was the only reason Styby didn't win. Nice ride by Brambilla

Ride of the day ... VAKOC ... I guess he was poorly positioned when Sagan attacked otherwise he would have win it today? :)

Nice win for Spartacus but man of the race is Brambilla without doubt.

Think Sagan will have to be more ruthless if he wants to start winning races like this. Takes too many turns at the front and lets the wise heads take advantage of that. It's why I love Sagan, for his style, but he could definitely win more races with a different approach.
Canc took just as many turns, even attacked.

Stybar was surprisingly hesitant up the last climb.

This one is on him after the team did everything right.

Probably was hesitating because Brambilla was ahead and it would look bad if he caused him to get caught, but clearly Stybar should have attacked at the bottom of the last climb so that he would likely have been able to drop Cancellara, so in the end the Brambilla-tactic backfired.

Yep, he consistently burns too many matches too early. The problem is that he seems to have fewer matches to burn than most of the other classics specialists. If he saved those attacks where he blows the race apart for the finish, he would win a lot more (like he did at the worlds!).

Of course, some races will get away then because a decisive break will form without him in it, but these tactics are not working for him at the moment.

so happy to see Spartacus take the win.........

this washes away his recent not-up-to-his-standard performances.....

And, what a ride by young Brambila!

Brambilla is 29 if I'm not mistaken.

OMG!! Super-psyched for Cancellara!! What a legend!

It was a weird final though: both Sagan and Stybar disapppeared, it wasnt even a context. Really strange that Stybar could not even sprint with Cancellara, even though he didnt have to take turns for 15kms.
Stybar didn't disappear, he was pretty much on Cancellara's wheel, but didn't have the power to come past. Plus Canc deliberately overshot a couple of corners to cut Stybar up a bit and prevent him from coming round him :)

It sounds strange but I think Brambillas attack at the end maybe cost Stybar the win. Stybar might have been stronger than Cancellara on the final ascent but he just didnt want to attack because his teammate was in front. Ofc thats only speculation but I think it could be the case.

That's certainly possible and with the very small roads it's hard to pass. Cancellara played it perfectly regarding the situation. Ofcourse you need the legs.

Yep, Cance cornered the finale like it was his backyard. Smart to not let Stybar take the front ahead of the descent as in one point they were almost side to side.

On the few straight pieces of road, Stybar had every opportunity to go past though. He also had the opportunity just before the finishing straight, but lacked the power to come across.

There was a moment half way up the final hill when Stybar went alongside Canc, trying to pass him from outside. Then rooftops blocked the view. When camera caught them again, Canc was still ahead. So I think Stybar was just not strong enough, despite having all the tactical advantages he could hope for.

I think the same.

Indeed, what wheelsuck. Brambilla was upfront doing a tremendous ride and had the legs, why would Stybar work and not wheelsuck. There's no added glory for Cance because of that.

Still think Gianluca was the best today and would have won had he not been in the break and doing all those attacks.

Styby was not that active before the Brambilla attacks, either but I wouldn't consider him a wheelsucker for that, though. ;)

Anyway, Sagan. :D
