Good job by Cav to stay on Sagan's wheel and make Kittel sit out in the wind

At first Peter had the edge and I was cheering for him, then Kittel takes the front and just when I was about to lose all hope, there comes Cav all mighty to take that one gloriously.

Beat Kittel by more than a bike length in the end.
It was a great positional win by Cav - he must only have been in the wind for about 50m. Not sure why Kittel didn't jump on Sagan's wheel, rather than going into the wind himself and slowly edging past him. Perhaps didn't think Cav was fast enough to compete and it was a head to head between him and Sagan.

I'm very happy for Cav, finally he gets his yellow jersey.
But wtf was Sagan doing? He looked mightily strong and I don't see a reason why you should go so incredibly early

Cav and his kid. It's like the friggin' Champs Elysees for the man today. Chuffed for the guy. Funny how not winning for a while gets you some strong sympathy points, huh!

FYI - "Bookwalter wiped Alberto out, he's now at the doc, we'll see how he is after" #TDF2016 #DeJongh

Again - didn't see it so no idea.

Really pleased for Cav. And he was a good in that interview. Seems to have matured a bit and great that he mentioned the charity. Delighted he did this at DD.

what are the time gaps?

alaphilippe for yellow tomorrow
It'll all be neutralized won't it? On the finish line it is something like this between some of the main contenders tomorrow, but I doubt it will stay like that for the GC:

Sagan + 6
Greipel + 10
Coquard + 10
Kristoff + 10
Alaphilippe +13
Van Avermaet + 29
Valverde + 29
Gerrans + 32

Biggest win of Cav's career!

No WC and MSR where bigger

Yellow Jersey is bigger than MSR for Cav, it's also come after so much doubt and so much pressure!

Anyone know if it's correct that EBH and Matthews both fell hard at the end? Would be really bad if true - they'd both be among the top favourites for tomorrow.

Cavendish interview:

'I do it for my team'

'I do it for the continent of Africa'

'I do it to get 5,000 kids on bikes'

What a legend.

I really liked this too.

To be fair to Kittel, Sabatini was awful today, he didn't even feature in the end and thats why Richeze has to be the last leadout man. Plus Kittel was detached from his train at one moment and had to spend some energy.

EBH went down, I don't know if Matthews did or not.
Hagen was leading Cav out so he should be ok
