Apparently some people believe if a rider has the yellow jersey he is entitled to be babysat through to the end of the race. There could be 20 riders within 20 seconds but they have to deal with all punctures and mechanicals themselves.
Their narrative falls apart a little when its an earlier stage and a sprinter/tter has the yellow jersey and suffers a puncture. They don't demand everyone wait for that yellow jersey.
