Cav is the smartest sprinter and he has the best riders to help him stay near the front in the finale with Eisel, Renshaw(although he is gonne now) and EBH.

lefevere must be regretting so much not letting cav do track...
It's hilarious. Shot himself in the foot so badly.
Well it made sense and was a good trade, but Cav has simply just topped him when it all mattered. The right thing to do, just kinda unlucky IMO.
No, I mean that Lefevere not letting him do track at Etixx obviously hurt his sprint, and he would have won more over the last 3 years if Lefevere had allowed it.

That's debateable..

There's many different variables that could have gone into Cav's resurgence.

Kittel had a perfect leadout and he didn't go too early, but cav is simply better than him and he surpassed him very easily

Sagan by a landslide. Sagan doesn't even need a team. Kittel, Cav and the Gorilla all require a team to even top 3 a stage.

That's an interesting hypothesis. I would imagine that the points race, in particular, might be beneficial.

Cav is the best with a team, and the best taking advantage of the work of others teams, but Sagan is just above this discussions is always there is the Legendary Tiger Man of professional cycling

Cav would never f*ck up a sprint like Sagan did in MSR 2013.

Sure there are, but Cav's top spreed seems to have increased from the last couple of years, and the obvious thing that's changed is track training.

48th victory in a GT. He has equalled Petacchi. Wonder if he can reach the 57 wins of Cipo.
Oh, it seems like he has some nice records for next year, if things keep going his way. Beating Merckx at Le Tour and going past Cipo.

Of course not, considering Cav would never be in the group contesting that finish in the first place.

You can't mess up something you'd never be a part of.

With the Olympics and then an increasingly winnable looking World Champs, I guess he won't do the Vuelta, but that would be a good method of chipping away at the record in future years. I'd say there are between 3 and 6 conceivably winnable stages this year.

And anyway, I'm not claiming Cav is better in the classics than Sagan, I'm claiming he's smarter tactically. Which he undeniably is

Because Cav would never be in a front group of 7-8 riders in the finale of a tough monument

Similar to the Zakarin incident. This should be a relagation
Yeah, if Zakarin got relegated you should do the same to Cav, taking half of the road isn't holding a straight line in a sprint.
Imagine the outcry if Nacer did the same...

Didn't Cavendish win the race in 2009?

Yeah by winning the sprint in a bunch of 40-50 riders. Completely different scenario, shouldn't be too hard to understand.
