Seriously, the Contador I see doesnt look decent at all
Thats true, but its all about hanging there on Peyresourde

Otoh Im nervous as he has no teammate to pace him if dropped e.g. 3k from the top

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Contador hasn't influenced the GC of this race since 2010.
Evans and Schleck might disagree with you there. I think you meant 2011.

Cavendish now thinking:

1. Won 3 stages
2. Got Peta Todd at home
3. Don't have to ride Alps.

"Sounds like a win-win-win I don't make the time cut."
It diminishes his stage wins quite a lot imo, if he pulls out after the first mountain stage. Basically a track rider turning up for the first few days - of course he's going to have a big advantage on flat stages than guys who have also prepared themselves to get over the climbs.

Huh? I don't think anyone is proposing he abandon.

The best thing for Alberto would definitely be a boring stage, just riding with steady pace up the last climb.. But someone will probably attack in the last km, and he'll lose another minute
