Is anyone good even going to do the Vuelta this year? Will be a very lackluster edition, unless Froome or Quintana do it.

Froome, Kruijswijk, Lopez, Purito, Chaves.....

It will be brutal

I don't think Froome will show up if he wins The Tour. The Vuelta was always the plan-B for him as well. Landa and/or Henao are going to be co-leaders if Froome wins the Tour.

Contador vs. Angel Lopez at the Vuelta is going to be great
And Chaves

I think MAL is better than Chaves in every way but yeah another exciting rider to cause some havoc.

Well he certainly doesn't have Chaves' experience in grand tours. But yes, MAL definitely has more potential than Chaves. Whether he'll beat Chaves in the vuelta this year remains to be seen

Lol, no one will even come close to contador... 3 vueltas, 3 wins

Apart from Quintana and Froome, who does?

Even guys like Valverde, Aru and Porte don't come close to him.

I think a fresh Kruijswijk and Chaves can surprise.

It seems that the divorce between Contador Tinkoff is more than consumated: if this is the case, is there a possibility that he is not selected for the Vuelta by his team?
I'm sure he'll get selected if he wants to go. But Kreuziger dropped out of Olympics contention to concentrate on leading the team in the Vuelta, so not sure if Contador will get full team support there.

Eurosport are saying he had a hard time getting the OK to quit from Yates...probably means the injury isn't that bad. Trek should call a timeout on signing off on millions for the next two years, what is he going to do about it anyway?

Reborn Samu is leading BMC in the Vuelta. :D

Last year he did.

And he said in a recent statement he will go to the Vuelta, not matter what.

All aboard the Sky Express!! Next stop, Paris!
Seriously, are we going to have to watch this disgrace for the next 2 weeks?!
Once Quintana drops Froome, then we will see Movi train :D

You have to factor in the Olympics this year though. If he wins the Tour he'll skip the Vuelta.

Why didn't he ride in the grupetto and see how he feels after the rest day? Even a sick Contador could have kept up with Cavendish.
Agree, strange to quit today with the rest day tomorrow. Seems like there is some politics behind the scenes here - Contador going against orders from his DS.

Contador will be worth big $$$ to the Trek brand so I don't see why what happened in this Tour changes anything

The team said he had a fever, but nonetheless, it isn't Contador's style to ride for a stage in the final week, when he can win a GT this year instead

He'll definitely ride it if he's not injured. He rides it to build a base for next season and prepare for the Tour, a high finish or stage win in it is just a bonus to him.

Contador second-guessing aside for now, Quintana's got to go on Beixalis. With Anacona and Herrada up the road, it's time to show that Movistar has some imagination and that not the whole peloton is terrified of Sky.

I'ts a statement. He's done with Tinkoff.
