So, Dumoulin might win the giro's TT, Tour's TTs, Olympic's TT, world's TT all in the same year.

NOPE! Watch out alien washing machine.
Even if Froome beats him (not surprising considering the terrain and previous results), it would be another well earned victory and Tom could still have a fantastic TT season, before turning GC rider.

Dumoulin was satisfied with his time trial but is worried that Chris Froome can beat him.

"I’m satisfied but I don’t think it’ll be enough to win the stage, he said immediately after his ride.

"I think Froome in his best form can beat my time. I felt good on the steep bit at the beginning but I felt I was losing a bit of strength on the longer stretches of 3-4%. It’s easy to lose time on a course like this. I did a good time trial but I don’t think it’s good enough to win."

Question is whether Froome opts to win or whether a more low key performance is in order.
It's a TT and there are some big dificulties left. It doesnt make sense to do anything other than go full throttle.
He has other stages and a great team in order to be conservative.

He's one bonk away from not finishing in the podium. A guy that attacks on the flats and descents in order to gain some seconds wont go sawft today.

And he already won a Tour ITT.

Froome warming up on tt machine.
Dumoulin has set conditions, it seems.

Froome was training on the TT bike on the rest day, think he has planned to use it all along.

JRod 5th through Domancy (before first check) - tailwind? Or suicidal pace?

In the mountain TT in the Giro of 2011, he also was 4th after the first checkpoint, after 5 flat km's.

But as a consequence of that, he lost quite some time uphill back then.

So, if I understand this correctly, Tejay is supposed now to help Richie over the next 2 days and probably won't whilst pretending to make an effort. Whilst Richie is now not supposed to help Dog over the next 2 days and probably will whilst pretending not to.

Have I got that right?

Dawg doesn't need help any more. If anything, Dawg will help his dom in red get on the podium
