Yep, Sky put a mighty large noose on the tour this year and pulled it really tight.

Looking forward to next year...
Looking forward to more of the same?

proves once and for all how overrated nibali's descending is as I've been calling here for years

Yeah, because he's really going to risk a crash here with the Olympics looming.
wanna speak again?

Uhm, what happened confirmed what I said. Why would Nibali risk crashing in a descent for a mere Tour stage? Olympics is his big goal and he has a family and kids. He clearly didn't push it.

I wouldn't bother arguing with him, it's a lose cause.

Nibali clearly didn't want to risk it given the Olympics, just look at what happened to Dumoulin...

He got somewhat right once in a million and he tries to shove to everyone's throat. He's just a funny joke

The break made this stage watchable but the gc guys were ridiculous. Such small time gaps but nobody dares to attack.

problem was rain which made the descent treacherous

Froome was the best AND the most exciting GC rider in the Tour this year.

Mollema and Porte have been the most aggresive too after that, which says enough

It's been the worst Tour since the Wiggins Tour, and the second worst since some of the Armstrong ones. Let's hope for better times soon.
The same cause, the same problem to solve for this sport : Team Sky.

People the problem is not SKY. The problem is that you have a 24 yo rider at 20" to the podium and he doesn't lift a finger to go and get it. SKY is irrelevant, it's the whole peloton.

Froome still had 4 riders at the end

Defining image of this TDF for me. The sea of black and blue I saw when they rolled around that corner before the other top 10 challengers went. Froome's win was unquestionably deserved in the face of Sky's sheer power and everyone else's inability to fight back. Astana was absurd today in chasing down a break with Nibali in it all the while their podium challenger was suffering a serious knock. Movistar takes the win today but remain a miserable team in what comes to achieving their GC objectives in the TDF. I wish Bala had been unleashed from the beginning. I get the feeling he was a podium challenger moreso than Quintana this time around.

Happy for Bardet, Meintjes, Yates. One confirmation and two revelations for me. I see Bardet as the torch bearer for the Contador style in the near future. I hope he has a GC success soon. I feel bad for Mollema though.

A word for my main man Costa. A TDF's worth of almosts. He'll get more chances in the future surely. A great tour for attackers like De Gendt, Majka, Zakarin, Costa, Alaphilippe, Rolland, Pinot even if things went wrong for a few of them.

Disappointed that we didn't see any GC action today but noone wanted to take risks on wet descent I assume. I wished that today had had a mtf.

The two most aggressive GC riders will finish 1 & 2. There was clearly no desire amongst those in the Froome group to attack. Porte, who has actually shown some attacking intent, is unlucky not to podium. I have actually enjoyed this tour.... but then, I'm a fan of Bardet.

Worst GC Tour is years. I don't want to be disrespectful to riders like Pantano, Alaphilippe, Zakarin, Cavendish, Sagan, Majka and others.

the 2012 Tour was miles better than this one. Miles.

Actually, Nibali tried to do something in many stages in 2012 Tour. We had exactly zero GC aggression in this Tour apart from Bardet.

Some of the top-10 were re-sorted today. Kreuziger a big winner. If today was a MTF, IMO you would have seen some bigger tries. A 5k descent and then miserable weather shuts it all down.

Sky had so much additional power you would have been a fool to expend too much energy.

Stop arguing with Ryo. It's so incredibly pointless.

Well this was Tour de Bore. Had it's nice moments and Froome/Sagan entertained us a few times, but overall really dissapointing. Froome obviously lacked someone who could challenge him. With a dissapointing Quintana and a most likely good Contador crashing out there was never any GC excitement. There really didnt happen anything on the climbs besides riders getting dropped and a last 2km attack with some seconds gap.
