2016 Tour de France, Stage 21: Chantilly → Paris (113km)

Froome better slow up on the sauce a bit there. He has 8 laps of a pretty fast criterium to do. There were multiple crashes in the women's race. This wouldn't be the first time he has got carried away and not known when to stop. Let this be a warning. Andy Schleck says, "Heewwooooeuggh."

Prudhomme tells L'Equipe that Sky "overpowered the race in the mountain passes" and "More than ever, we need 1 less rider per team"

Totally agree.

honestly, what would that have changed this year? The (only) team fully dedicated and well prepared with respect to the GC having the best GC-contender (although Chris looked less invincible than he did in 2013 and last year) won - period .... 8 men teams wouldn't have changed zilch to this ...
unfortunately (for the suspense) no one was on par with Chris and no team was giving everything just for the one goal ....
besides, there is always a risk with the way Sky is set up: if the leader has to abandon (like in 2014), the team will be left with nothing (I doubt Poels would have filled the gap better than Porte in 2014) unless you are Tinkoff and have the likes of Peter Sagan or Rafal Majka in your team (and going for a KOM competition with just Thomas De Gendt willing to battle for it) ....

its not about what would have changed this year

they have to start somewhere and quite frankly cutting the teams from 9 to 6 or even 7 would be too harsh, cutting 1 rider is a good start and we would see next year if the race was a bit different

after that you can continue either cutting more riders or push for salary cap or banning radios or at least limit radio use to anything except tactical advice

Are they going particularly slowly this year, or does it just feel like it? 20kms in 1 1/2 hours?

I have the same feeling. And still this looks like sunday ride. This is just ridiculous, they should shorten this last stage or maybe there is some other solution but this is booooring and meaningless way to ride this stage.

Are you watching the Tour for the first time? It's always like this on the final stage

That's true, but I agree with Museeuw that this is boring. Bring back a time trial on the last day!

Not always, just the last few decades. And that doesn't mean it has to stay that way. I find it boring, and a waste of a day. They should switch it around a bit, like the giro.

More beers and champagne is the answer.

No, not my first Tour. Yeah, it's always like that but it shouldn't be. Ceremonial stage is ok, but this is waste of time. This should take 1-1,5 hours less time then it would be ok.
