I just had to register, what an amazing performance! What a season Peter is having. It was so obvious that he was suffering from so much pressure.
The way that he grinned his teeth and everybody was on his wheel and then they all blow up... Legendary. And what about the descent? He made some tactical mistakes, but the raw power was just too much for the others. Looking at Etix doing all they could just put a smile on my face. Amazing. Albasini did the right thing, attacking right after Sagan made his huge turn.
Guys, mark my words. Liege has Pave. Look whose riders Peter has been smoking on similar circumstances. If he focus on LBL, he is the favorite.
If he goes for the cobbled monuments as his main goal, then he could still be the most dangerous outsider at LBL. I just don't see how anyone would beat Peter if he attacks from the usual group with dozens of tired guys.
Also: Rui Costa was always close to the front, despite never committing. Who here wants to bet that once someone realizes how close he is to win, it will be too late, again?

Greg never did anything even remotely similar to this. He only beats Peter if he has a leader, and sits on the wheels. He was a legend, but that's how he rides, now. Heck, maybe he payed for it during all those years of trying to be what Sagan is now, and just falling short.KGB said:

Sagan will never be as good as Boonen on the actual cobbled sectors. Sure, Sagan has great rouleur skills which are equally important, but even a Vanmarcke attack on a 5* sector would distance Sagan. Difference is Sagan should be able to catch up to Vanmarcke on the tarmac after the cobbled sector, as Vanmarcke lacks the incredible rouleur skills that the top guys have.

The most pleasing part of the stage for sagan was he attacked on the last climb - Could have sat with the peleton 20 or 25 seconds back and hoped to get the breakaway in the last 11km, but he attacked the climb himself.

Besides, based on what we know, Sagan is better than Sep (a great rider) on every single metric. From flat, to sprint, to hill, to explosion, to handling, to descent, to stamina, etc.
We never saw him in great shape at the cobbles (PR) without bad luck. However, betting that he is anything other than a force to be reckoned with is hilarious, based on what we know.
You are basing that on the fact that Peter never had a Roubaix without bad luck/poor form. Let's wait and see for that to happen.trucido said:

Sagan might lack the big wins - well, more big wins than the WCRR - but I can honestly sat that I've never seen a rider like him. He's by far the biggest talent I've ever witnessed ride a bike. The only question is if he'll fulfill this potential and make his palmares reflect his talent and abilities.
