That last stage is always the big letdown in this race. I don't care if it's early season, it should be a lot more decisive.

It takes a good couple of weeks to really recover from such an insane effort in the heat like Bobridge at nationals

Agreed. Even something along the coast into the city for the circuit would be an improvement, get some echelon action happening.

I assume the issue is logistical in closing off so many roads in the suburban/urban areas. As for the outbound stages they're neutralised until they they get into the countryside so the risk is reduced.
