Bardet was odds 2nd favoruite to win the race, and is performing accordingly. EBH is only decent sprinter here, the field is absolutely attrocious if someone like GVA and Italian puncheurs can come in top 5. It'd be embarrasing if he couldn't win in this field.

Definitely best rider we've seen this year, still really early

Performing well in february is a big indication for good results in the classics.

Not always, look at haussler in '09, monster until end of march

Bardet is young and according to reports took it Nibali today in an attempt to get free. I like that kind of riding .

EBH is showing some of his early potential that seemed to have disappeared for a few seasons.

What's not to like?

Anyway, good for him he left Sky! It's crazy an all-round guy this talented was reduced to a mountain domestique there..........

He was even 10th at Green Mountain.

Boasson Hagen at Sky was the greatest waste of talent i can thnk of.

I don't disagree but Simon Gerrans gets a close second.

Reckon Gerrans gets the most out of his talents - Five years ago would never have guessed that Gerrans would win 2 monuments.

Not getting carried away ...he is beating GVA pretty well

But as I asked not sure about the team

Beating GVA is a sprint is nothing compared to beating him on a cobbled classic

EBH will never win PR. He should change his focus to other races, because he's not very good at cobbled races.

I don't see why people would write off EBH's chances in P-R, RVV or any other cobbled classic as long as Knaven, Van Summeren, Bäckstedt et al have all won PR, and if they could, there might as well be a chance in there somewhere for EBH.

Well, you said GVA being top 5 on this stage is a sign that the field is "attrocious". I'd like to see you construct a field where GVA getting top 5 on a hilly stage like this wouldn't be a likely outcome...

Without Le Manie it will be another big sprint the race badly needs Le Manie to wear the riders down.
