Weird that people think Astana is protecting their gc spot. They simply like Sky/Froome more than Movistar/Quintana, that's it.

Same reason why Contador is riding so hard. He doesn't like Sky. Obviously he would never ride like this if Froome was in his group and Quintana was behind.

Froome and Vino are Monaco neighbours. He's made the call.

Umm, why does anyone think that Contador is Domming for Quintana, AC is in 6th, he is 2nd on the road now and he can out TT Quintana. He is clearly riding for himself.... and his legacy in comparison to Froome

Guys I don't know about you, but what a disgusting loser Contador is turning out to be. At this point, he is doing nothing more than making Quintana win this Vuelta. Quintana barely works, like the wheelsucker he is.

Alberto and Tinkoff should stop working NOW!

That way Movistar and Quintana are forced to work at 100%, otherwise Froome comes back, and Alberto can try and take time on Quintana on the last climb.

As things are now, Alberto is looking like an ignorant fool, and some of the usual haters that only want to see Froome lose at all costs can't see it.
Well, a potential stage win and podium or a 5th place. What would you choose?

Contador can take time from Froome today but if it comes together it is unlikely that he can beat Froome so working is good for him also.

I thought nothing will happen after yesterday hard stage so I tuned about 80 kms to go. Anyway great action. I hope somehow Contador will grab red. Would be most epic stage I watched.

Not just that, they're close friends.
Remember the controversy about Sky leadership in 2013, Froome admitted he was trying to find a way out of his contract to go to Astana. At the time he raved about his "good friend"

EDIT: that was the interview that prompted the infamous quote "but not really" from his wife

Kirby: They're rolling through the names in the breakaway led by some great names, Contador and Castrovejio

You need to respect Contador for this. Even if it's gonna be a suicidal attack. Even if it marks his end as a major general classification contender. It's like Pantani in 2000. He's going out with a big bang rather than fading away. That's the behavior of a former big champ!

Kenny and Fraile chasing as well. Brilliant!

Why shouldn't they work?

Chasing with Alberto, be part of a legendary break, grabbing some mountain points and maybe a good stage result, or not working and not getting a thing at all.
