I understand Movistar's choice to let someone like Moreno attack because he won't be chased by other gc riders, but if the rider who attacks is in such a bad shape that Yates can beat him with ease, wouldn't it make more sense to take a little risk and let Valverde attack? Or they should have used Moreno to chase down attacks instead of causing the crucial attack, so Valverde can win the sprint.

Nobody chased Yates when he attacked. They just let him ride away.

Movistar's tactics on this stage were awful and there's really no defending it.
