I really can't see Thomas winning. He's never been able to climb with the very best if they're on form. To win the Giro I think he'll have to limit his losses in the mountains and gain time in the TT's.

I think Nibali could take this on the finish. Etna is a great place to take the victory for him. Nairo is much better in last week. I predict that it will be the game with those two main players.

g wins tomorrow

Is that a fans FKW photo, or is the 10th man a staff member?

Anyway, as for tomorrow's prediction. I'm favouring someone from a very strong break of the day to take the win with the teams and riders already mentioned by mayomaniac.

Anything can happen tomorrow.
A respectable climbing breakaway can be formed of those who wasted time on Sardinia.
Some GC contenders could be affected by the rest day.
Should be indicative, if nothing more.

I hope it isn't boring because I look forward to your guys reactions while the race is going on.

Even Gan Varderen is feeling really good, it will be a great show!

I hope he does good to prove the doubters wrong and Pinot does well too.

Phil Gaimon to win the stage, the aqua y pan guys must win.

Jokes aside (Im actually angry tbh), its extremely unpredictable. i think it will be more selective than some might think. 10-12 guys from the favourite field can win and then you have the break who also might succeed, I hope Nibali and Bahrain will do something about that tho.

This is the kind of stage in the first week of a GT that Contador is sooo missed :(

anyways...... I expect either a breakaway winner or Landa/Pinot/G to out sprint the rest of the GC contenders with no gaps whatsoever....
What the hell? why even post crap like this?
Relax. Nothing wrong with anything he posted. Besides, it was Contador responsible for the action last time on Etna when it was windy.

So many names being tossed around, it's exciting! Even if the overall GC lead battle turns out to be boring, I think the podium battle at least will be thrilling in this Giro. Etna might be raced conservatively but I will be watching each kilometer intensely, feeling the tension in the air at the unpredictability of what could happen. Big surprises at the front and back of the main group could happen at any moment on the climb. A big showdown on a beautiful stage.

My prediction is that Quintana will end the Giro today by taking a lot of time from all of his rivals and after that controls things until the end of the last stage. If they wait for last kilometers then obviously none of that will happen.

""I think it's going to be a close race right to the final time trial in Milan, this Giro is going to be like a chess match, where every second won or lost will be important," he (Slongo) claimed."

A lot of looking at each other by the sounds of it - Cannondale to go nuts with Astana as minor nuts. Will Landa's "radio work" will be fun viewing!

Prediction - Quintana to sprint the last 2km to follow in the break.

I could see the break taking it.

The guy who I could see going hard to get into the break is Paolo Tiralongo. A veteran Italian riding for Astana, that would be kinda perfect.

I found a couple of live webcam on the Volcano and the wind seems strong with the cam that shake and rattle.
Anyone knows if the road they use this year is exposed or not?

YES!

Can't wait to see him in pink (and to read all the reports from the delusional portuguese fans stating he's going to win Il Giro )

If Quintana wants to win the Giro he should try to drop Dumoulin, Thomas and Zakarin, because he will lose time to them in the time trials.

Pozzovivo could do well. He was looking decent in Trentino and he often does well on early climbs in a GT.
