Maybe it is the headwind, but there is/was a stage win up for the taking here and they'd all just rather look at each other in the main bunch.

Disappointing racing for me.
Indeed. What a last climb....

Hoping the 'favourites' will step up. Bad, bad racing.

This is the kind of stage in the first week of a GT that Contador is sooo missed :(

anyways...... I expect either a breakaway winner or Landa/Pinot/G to out sprint the rest of the GC contenders with no gaps whatsoever....

....but apparently I was posting "crap".....

Quintana, pinot, landa, thomas,... what a joke of riders

They have to drop Thomas in the mountains, he should gain time on most in the TT. It's on Quintana, Nibali, Pinot and co to do that.

Yeah sometimes the parcours and the conditions aren't conducive to the kind of attacking we'd like to see. Very early to have a stage like this. Plenty of great racing to come.

Well, most of us predicted this outcome if there was an headwind, so nothing strange really.

Sorry but dumoulin will put a minute o him in the time trial, so he has to attack too

And it's not like there was a Sky/Movi-train to be worried about chasing you down, if the attack was great enough it would put the other favourites under real pressure.

A real chance for great racing at this Giro if the GC guys actually give it a go, fingers crossed for later in the race.

You'd think if the headwind was that bad though, that a solo lesser name rider wouldn't be able to win relatively comfortably despite being in the break all day.

I think its just the consequence of big climbs early in the race. No-one wants to do an early attack and risk blowing up, and nobody really wants to have to waste energy defending the MR for the next few days. A stage for the race design thread aficionados to perhaps pay attention to.
