Makes you wonder if he was 32 behind Henao at PN and that was their B team! Team Contano gonna have to go from about 75 kms on one of the stages!

Movistar will get close, but won't win I think... BMC were super fast in the second part! But still, 1 minute gained on Contador and half a minute on Thomas/Froome is quite a lot. Unfortunatelly there is only one stage where we might see big differences... And I doubt Contador or anyone else can gain that much time on Valverde.

At least the organizers put this beastly TTT towards the front of the race. I still wish they had either shortened the distance or made it an ITT. Ah well.

This route was clearly made for valverde. This is just ridiculous... they make routes for uphill sprinters and not for pure attackers. Bring pais vasco, that's a proper race!!!

Yes, and Valverde can go for bonus seconds on a few stages, it will be really hard to beat him.

There are no stages that present a reasonable opportunity to attack from far. The climbs (except for Lo Port) are either very easy or too far from the finish. That's the big issue with this parcours - together with this ridiculous TTT, of course.

Anyway, there is no way Valverde doesn't win. He'll grab like 20 bonus seconds as well.

This is the good point to take from it. There are an awful lot of egos out there that want to get at least some psychological advantage over their opponents. Should be fun, but yeah, Bala is going to be tough to reel in to say the least.
