Well, a time limit is a time limit.

And they didn't go all out.
Nope. And thats the essence - riders aren't trying enough. Its completely different if you see them struggle their way trough a long mountain stage, but losing 30 minutes here? Nope.

The commissionaires are bound to change their minds overnight.
There is a precedent you know.

In a minute there is time. For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.

Lets not bring any bright philosophical ideas into this.

Strict rules in sports must be applied imo.

Kämna 8th not bad
Yes, it's a good result for him, the guy has a really big engine and seems to be at his best if the whole stage is raced really hard. Kämna himself said that he's a pretty bad sprinter, so it's a good result for him.

Actually, kind of surprising Rojas worked for Bala rather than did the sprint for himself. I know he's only a shadow of his former self but you'd think he still might be faster in a flat sprint.

Not even when Valverde leads him out.

Funny how often a breakaway has come down to the last few hundred meters , in recent years. Great finish!

10% for time limit? I'm counting 27.4 minutes for 10% of the winning time. Big group finished at 27 flat. Approx 110 riders left for the final stage.

If not for the penalty, Valverde might have ended up winning this by over 2 minutes... wow. Grand tour sized gaps.

De Marchi didn't look over his shoulder once in the final 500m today. He was probably thinking about is victory salute with 50m to go.

valverde is surely the better bet for the win in a sprint than Rojas.

there are multiple Vuelta stages aswell where Valverde leadout Rojas and JJ never passed him but others did

Reading Dan Maritin's commentary, those who also road PN should be less sharp, more fatigued than those who have not. Perhaps Valverde's dominating performance has been enhanced by this. Otherwise, he really should be considering his chances at the Tour. What, though, this means with Quintana is anybody's guess.

Just a quick reminder for anyone wanting watching today's stage, that it finishes very early at around 14:00. Coincidentally, about the same time that GW coverage begins. :D

Before they rose to power Sky had stomach problem in the Vuelta.
That's why they brought in medical knowledge from the traditional peloton.
Are we now back to square one?

Or did Spanish cooking take sides?
