Men Elite Time Trial

Welcome all to Norway and Bergen!. We gonna give you a show and love of cycling you have never seen before! (Not hard after DOha). And you will see millions of people chering the sport closest to our heart!!

Offical Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmhVf9Vsd0o

(From http://www.Bergen2017.no)
"The Time Trial for the Men Elite will have a spectacular summit finish at Mount Fløyen.

The circuits are laid to the south towards Lake Nordåsvannet, but this time the riders will stay at the Paradis/Hop/Storetveit side of the lake.

The Time Trial course for the Men Elite will only be 31 km, but the last 3,4 km is straight up Mount Fløyen with an average pending of 9,1 % and several parts with more than 10%. This will pose a real challenge for the riders who aim for the coveted UCI rainbow jersey.

The first lap is identical to the one used for the Women Junior and the Men Under 23. After the start at Festplassen the riders will race towards Lake Tveitevannet before turning back to the City centre where they will face 600 metres of fine cobblestone. The section will take the riders past many historic buildings, and when they enter Bryggen they will meet a gigantic roar from the fans.

When the riders come to Vetrelidsallmenningen for the second time they have completed the first 27,6 km of the course. But the final 3,4 km will be breathtaking up the serpentine turns of Mount Fløyen. Fans will gather in thousands and create a magical atmosphere.

With this historical summit finish the riders will have the option of changing their bikes. This brings a tactical element into the event that is most interesting for the fans and worldwide TV-viewers.

After completing the climb to Mount Fløyen the riders are awarded the scenic view from the finish line with the city of Bergen at their feet. This will truly be a memorable race!"

Before tackling the punchy closing climb up Fløyen the route of the ITT runs on rolling roads. Too modest to call them proper climbs, yet the stretches go up at gradients of 3 to 4%, so the course is pretty toilsome. Furthermore, the ITT takes in around 1.2 kilometre of pavé.

Favourites World Championships ITT
*** Tom Dumoulin, Rohan Dennis, Primoz Roglic
** Chris Froome, Michal Kwiatkowski, Stefan Küng, Geraint THomas
* Maciej Bodnar, Vasil Kiryienka, Tony Martin, Bob Jungels, Wilco Kelderman

No love for Jonathan Castroviejo?

What he done except won the ITT in Spain this year? He beat Martin in Algarve, thats it.. Personally i think this is perfect for Geraint Thomas.. :D . From the favourites i would pick Tom and Stefan as the best placed specialists in this ITT..

Dumoulin vs Roglic vs Thomas. Froome isn't starting I believe.

I do wonder which ITTs of the last 2 years are good to look at to predict the result.

Where have u read that Froome aint starting? Its his only chance of winning a ITT WOrlds time trial in his life..

I forgot where. Wasn't an overly reputable source anyway. That said, I think Froome has almost no chance of winning. It's 10 days between the Vuelta and the ITT, and the body will kick into recovery mode. I'd be surprised if he reached the podium.

I will be very suprised if he dont start at ITT, he has no place in the Roadrace though, for placings that is..

If Dumoulin is on a normal day this course is almost too perfect for him. A tt followed by a 3km WATT test. Kidding me?

If Wilco is less than 20 seconds behind Dumoulin at the start of the last hill finish he will win easy.. Bike changes are allowed, and my prediction is that all the top20 contenders are gonna change bikes in the first turn at the hill .. WHen the kinetic energy of the speed into the hill is at its lowest.. :D

Dennis has been the outstanding TTer in 2017 - Performed very well on a similar if not more testing course at the 2016 Olympics - Not suffered a mechanical and he would have finished 2nd - And the shorter route plays to his strengths.

He will maybe lead at intermediate, but he wont be top 30 .. Thats my prediction. With Richie Port it would be opposite.. :D . But he still havent recovered sadly.

Re: 2017 Worlds BERGEN, NORWAY, ITT Wednesday 20 Sept

Roglic was rather disappointing in the last two TT's he rode so his form might not be good enough. By the way I'm surprised that Alaphillippe won't ride. The TT he won in Paris Nice was a lot like this, only a bit shorter, so while not being a favorite I'd still say he would have a small chance to win a medal, something I wouldn't say about Gougeard.

I read somewhere it was his own decision to skip the TT.

He didnt see the profile then.. Most havent mentioned it on Twitter either.. My prediction is that when Chris Froome see the profile he says ; Im Racing!

I wouldn't ignore Kiryienka for podium, or even being a close contender. This course suits him a lot, he has shown form in TOB and he is really good in one-day time trials.

He is in my top 3 for intermediate, but i dont think he knows how the last hill is (nobody does it seems) .. Its 9-10% in average for 3.5 km but its like 50 meters with 7 percent and 18 percent .. Its up and down, no chance for his kind.
