Just hope all get around without crashes or other "incidents". What's the odds for 'Pozzovivo? :D

Did we ever get to the bottom of how he won that TT a few years ago?
He finished 3rd and while it was a WTF moment he only finished 1 second ahead of Nibali.
The whole top 20 was filled with mainly gc contenders.

Disgusting that this beautiful race has been scarred by this modern day apartheid regime.

It leaves a very, very sour taste. Anyway, Dennis will win, Pinot will be the surprise package.

Among academic circles support for Israel has been on decline for some years To counter this Netanyahu has been increasingly allowing a rise in efforts to commercialize Israel on the sporting/tourism front
But it all doesnt matter because no one (with real influence) will/can do anything anyway.
Meanwhile lets bash some muslims for investing in sports for same reason as Israel.

Re: 2018 Giro d'Italia, Stage 1: Jerusalem - Jerusalem ITT 9

It's not the kind of course that you would have scouted before, at night when there's no traffic, It will be a "morning of" recon, limited. It will take a blend of war power and ITT skills, instincts, to perform well.

Dennis? Probably. Dumoulin? Maybe. Vasil? I don't see it. Van Emden? Would be nice.

Dennis to win. Schachmann to podium. Possibly Dumoulin too. Martin, Campenaerts, Lulu somewhere close.

Edit: Checked the odds after writing this. Stuck 10 quid on Schachmann for the win @200. Some serious value

That's a really nice play, especially each way. 50-1 would be a realistic price. 200-1 is excellent.

Is this the State per se, it's government/policy, it's people or all of the above?

I think the Radiohead line is pretty apt: 'we don't agree with Trump, but we still play in America."

What is with the Schachmann hype... I know he has a big engine but what has he ever shown among the elite that shows he is capable of a podium in this field?
Nothing, really. But he had never previous shown that he would be able to ride as well as he did in the Ardennes this year either. Basically, the hype is just based on his form and the fact that he's a promising timetrialist.

Just one podium, but he came very close quite often:

And he's even better this year.

With the difference that Radiohead isn't used by the regime as a way to legitimize its policies. That is definitely the case here, with for example the Israeli government pressurizing the Giro organisers to have the starting location as 'Jerusalem' instead of 'West-Jerusalem'. This is very, very clearly politicized.
