The interesting thing about this racing situation is, due to the break the pack just cannot afford to sit up due to the break. My guess is they will keep attacking even on the flat.

Agree. Not much significant has happened yet. A few big names who clearly have poor legs have been filtered out a bit earlier than they would have been on an easier course. But the peloton is pretty big and with a lot of domestiques still around to control things.
