Dissapointing TT from Fuglsang.

What are you talking about?

It's one of his best TTs in years - he is not a usual suspect in the top 10 of a TT.

I'm not saying he did bad, but considering he got beaten by Yates and Buchmann
, not really known timetrialists altough they definitely improved, I'd say it was a dissapointing ITT by him.

You don't think he did bad, but you are disappointed?

Yes. Bardet, Quintana and Pinot all didn't do good TTs today but I wasn't expecting them to do so in the first place. So I wasn't really dissapointed by them.
With Fuglsang it was different, he had a stellar year so far and is known as atleast a very solid timetrialist. So I was just expecting a bit of a better TT than he did in the end. In the end I thought it was just a bit dissapointig.

You are absolutely wrong he is known as a good timetrialist.

I simply don't know what you base that off - it cannot be his results.

Everyone was shocked when he got 8th on the Swiss Tour ITT last year, and subsequently he came 40th in the ITT at the TdF.

Solid ≠ good.

If I'm overestimating his TT by saying he is a solid timetrialist than I'm probably wrong in being dissapointed. I was just expecting him to do better than the likes of Yates and Buchmann.

Is WVA the new Seán Kelly? Bunch sprinter, TT winer, and who knows what else?

When has he ever been a bunch sprinter? Lots of classic guys are fast, in fact I’d say a good part of the current top classics riders are faster than Van Aert.
He was just second behind Bennett in stage 3 here. Now, the sprint field is weak, but it was still impressive.

Indeed. He was by far the best GC rider in the TdS TT last year

He was 2nd and Greipel was 15th.... Also they said Kelly would never win a monument... and he didn't until his 6th year as a pro. Then he won another 8 so there's plenty of time for WVA to add another couple of strings to his bow ;)

I'm being tongue in cheek but it was great to see him going for it yesterday all the same.

Well, it was definitely inpressive but as you say the field is very week. I think a lot of strong classics riders in shape could achieve a similar result against this field. He hasnt ever won a sprint against great competion so I dont think that’s the way he will go.

There's nothing shocking in Fuglsangs last year Swiss Tour tt. You can check out his level already from 2011 Worlds tt and quality of participants. And his ability to go out hard long small escape groups. It's possible to ride tt when support role, not top form, not recovered aso that he has done alot. But when top form, his tt ability is on level that, say Quintana, Bardet, Pinot, have looong hard road to reach.

Er, everybody knows that he was a really strong TT'er - close to being a specialist - in the early years of his career.

Everybody also knows that he then became a terrible TT'er and was that apparently until the Tour de Suisse TT last year.

Exactly

His focus on becoming a climber ruined his TT completely - until last years Swiss Tour.

I knew Van Aert as a strong allrounder, but I didn't think he could win a time trial against this field. Impressive!
Froome out, Dumoulin injured... If your nearest rival is TJVG (a decent ITT'er but by no means worldclass) you can't really say this field was super tough. No Campenaerts, Martin, Van Emden, Castroviejo, Lampaert, Denis... And Kwiatkowski and Kiryienka clearly taking the day off.
