Mandatory stage across the Po Valley, which has been the worst trend of recent Giro route designing. I'm ok having one of these stages, but two in a row? Terrible.

Weather should be good today. Even warm.
I agree two back to back is a little much. Good thing today is short and flat finish whereas tomorrow is long and false flat. Gives opportunities for versatile sprinter skillsets to contest.

Still waiting for Giro to begin...

Have to agree, it's been quite underwhelming so far. It looks like a 3 week GT is gonna turn into a 10 day stage race, then all of a sudden it will turn into the best GT for years and the first week or two will have been forgotten.

That's what I'm hoping for. Giro rarely disappoints after all, and it has a lot of catching up to do this year.

Two time trials plus crash fest. Not my favorite parts of stage racing.

In the meantime horrible news, Vegni said that Gavia is looking "good", 60% chance of it happening…
Knowing how much of a pussy he is, that pretty much confirms Gavia cancellation…
Almost admitted plan B is nowhere comparable…
Just cancelled the vacation I had for that day (I'm not joking).

Relax and " take it day by day". That stage is a national emergency, it is inconceivable that it will be canceled. I can imagine a conversation between Vegni and Nibali last year:

- Caro Vincenzo, fancy a double Stelvio with some fresh cream on top?
- Mauro, it's getting a bit boring, don't you think?
- Then how about Gavia-Mortitolo combo?
- Sounds better, but if there's too much snow?
- There is never too much snow for you Vincenzo.

Not looking too bad I would say...

I just listened to Vegni's interview live and you don't talk percentages if you're convinced that Gavia will happen.
Let's hope he's just being prudent, but I wouldn't bet on it. Actually I did just best on the opposite. :D

He's talking percentages because he is just as you said... he doesn't want to commit and say they are gonna race it period.

If it's over 0C it should melt some, which looks like the road would be passable.
