What a shame for Roglič, a mechanical, Movistar pick up the pace, he gets back on, limits the damage to Nibali on the final meters of the climb, then he crashes and loses 40 seconds to the leaders. He didn't deserve that. Nibali again benefitting from someone else's misfortune.
You are bound to have some misfortune through 3 weeks, especially when you don't have a team. And not only Nibali, but also Carapaz cashed in. Also lets not forget he was dropped in the first place.

He had to chase back almost 30 seconds with a bike that wasn't really working for him. He looked ok physically but the way he was spinning the bike didn't look like his normal cadence and obviously the crash. Yes, I realize that pressure to chase on the final descent and get back to Carapaz and Nibali didn't help, but riding someone else's bike can cause problems.

Riding up the Civiglio on someone else's bike is far from ideal to put it mildly.

Not to mention the crash that benefitted Roglic and Carapaz on stage 4. It is also interesting to note that Carapaz lost 46 seconds on stage 3.

It's just the nature of the race. Roglic has had a perfect race until his crash. At some point, misfortune has got to happen.

Cataldo sits on for the entire climb, then has the nerve to get moody with Cattaneo sitting on him in the run-in.
Noticed that too. Cheeky *** :p

Cattaneo tried to attack him though tbf, on the climb. Cataldo wasnt gonna help after that.
Even on Ghisallo and Sormano, Cattaneo did like 90% of the work. Cataldo took hardly any turns.
Cattaneo has no sprint so he had to play it like this. But if Cattaneo had made a fuss about Cataldo doing so little work, Cataldo wouldn't have won.

What ?

This is bike racing ...crashing , descending all part of the game...everyone wins and loses ..strange ...should they just sit up ??

Just ignore him.
Just trolling against Nibali.

Whoever has ridden a bike knows that a crash like Roglic's is only his own fault and has nothing at all to do with fortune.

We all watched the same race. He was riding someone else's bike due to a mechanical, hence one of the reasons for the crash, hence the misfortune.

Nice to see Cataldo get the win. Good day for Carapaz and Nibali also Yates. Roglic and his team will rue not taking a spare bike before the climb. Sure his team mates bike didn't help. He looked awkward enough even before the descent. The last three stages haven't been dull. Typical Giro stage. What looked like a snorefest with about 90 kms to go.sprang to life mainly thanks to Michelton and some late attacks..

I don't understand why Roglic didn't change to his spare bike while he was chasing back to the group. The team car was right next to him, it would have cost him about 10s.
That's a good point. He would not have had any problem getting back with all the help from team cars, the commisaire car and sticky bottles that he got anyway. A wrong decision, that possibly caused his crash, it seems.
