Looks like Jumbo wants to control the pace and let the break go, let's see what happens.

Edit: no surprise on Tom DNF, now recovery and go all the way in France!

Did Tom D start stage?

Abandon as soon as the flag went down, guessing he tried to push the pedals and it just wasn't there. Weather certainly isn't going to help either.

Such a shame for this Giro, but a blessing for the Tour. Dumoulin has no real damage in the knee and with a few days of rest he'll be ready to prepare.

Sunweb already put a man in the break.

Edit - Nibali really has got the weather gods working! Geezus!

I just did a street view walk around. As long as they have barriers in place and they've repaired some of the roads since the images were taken that final circuit looks no more dangerous than any other (I still think that the GC contenders should have their time taken earlier and be allowed to get out of the way).

Or be told to get out of the way.

They wouldn't need to be. Time taken first time over the line and no bonuses in the final sprint means there would be literally no benefit to a GC contender getting involved in the finish.

What the **** is up with the weather in Italy??

The two climbs could make for a potentially good break, but it will most likely obviously be a sprint.
You tell me, bro. It's been a month I haven't seen two consecutive sunny days and the wind is blowing strong. Feels like Flanders.

It won't get much better according to the forecasts.
We had 3 consecutive weekends with snowfall in my hometown...

One can only imagine what's going on on Gavia.

Froome won't be too happy with Puccio :D
Was it that crash that caused his knee to get hit? I thought it was the roundabout crash that’s done the damage and that was the second crash

Drop the shovel and run, I thought we agreed 2 X Mortirolo is better.

Nibali called me and told me he needs a descent with snowbanks as high as the eye can see.

what surprises me the most are the temperatures all over the country especially in the mid-south appenninic between the Tirreno sea and Adriatic sea, basically where the giro will spend the next 2-3 days. Not a momentary passing disturbance.
Tomorrow (with the Giro going surprisingly through my region once again: Molise!) doesn't look any better. Even San Giovanni Rotondo is going to feel like summer Vladivostok.
