Any chance of crosswinds by the coast?

A weak Easterly wind according to the forecasts I've looked at but rain with even a chance of some thunder Saturday and possibly on Sunday too for the ITT.

I think Vincenzo will be having a look in his "Big Book of Voodoo" for the weekend. :D

Doesn't look too bad?

That race designer has some sense of humor. Why not throw bananas or nails on the road to elevate entertainment?

Giro likes the longer stages this year. This looks like one for the break and the GC riders won't mind.

Depends who goes in the break if they take it easy or not. Bad weather and a tricky second half to the stage might make it really tense also.

Final descent is really tricky and dangerous, I remember it very well (also if I did it by car  )

If it will be raining can be a really important point of the stage.

If some team (for example bahrain) will take it at high speed I think someone can lose time or (I hope this will not happen) also lose the Giro with some crash

Such a dangerous stage for the gc. If the stage doesn't go to the break I'd be surprised if no contender loses time.

The weather seems to be remaining fairly wet and cool for the most part of the next 10 days.

My guess is that the break will take it, GC contenders will minimise the risks of crashing the day before the long time trial. Still, Nibali may try something in the last descent.

The flat start should make it easier for the sprinters to control. I reckon Ackermann, Ewan and Demare would like to have a go.

At least it's sunny. Seems doable. :)

Hmm... just a random thought about these kinds of finishes:
Maybe the biggest problem isn't riders who can't descend (in the wet), and know they can't.
But the riders who can't descend (in the wet), but think they can.

Otoh… what if a rider just... crashes... in the last 3 Ks?

So a 4.5% descent with a few hairpins is dangerous? Looks perfectly fine to me.

Yeah, I don't see any problems, though it's horrible not resurfaced lately and could be raining, but that is cycling.
So yeah, deal with it, or go out for fun like me. :D

Holm actually made a pretty good point before; maybe the complaint isn't about the descend, but about that random turn at the end.

Sure they just mentioned on Eurosport that they will be neutralising the GC times at the 3k mark which is on the final downhill section.

Edit. Lotto Soudal tweeted it and just waiting for confirmation from the grown ups. (organisers)
