Ok, I'll admit it is way too backloaded Red Rick. But I guess making the finales easier/less interesting on stage 4 and 6 (or 7, not really sure Eshnar) didnt really help the matter either. But its fine, I have a big assignment due to the day of Montosio and Pinerolo, so I can follow the race from there on from the beginning to the end which I fully intend to do.

"From stage 12 onward, it is one of the best designed halves of any Giro I remember, with the best set of mountain stages in recent years." I thought somebody said earlier in the forum that this years route does not add up with the amount of talent coming to ride it. Proves them wrong once again. I myself am very excited about the route and the race all together. GC looks to be very interesting indeed. This is only the second Giro for me and I did get 2 weeks of vacation just for this. Bring it on!

1. I dont think anyone have said that about the 9 last days of the Giro. Its amazing, obviously, and the critics of the routes havent critisized that at all.

2. Eshnar saying that doesn't in itself prove it wrong, altho you could certainly argue that he is the one that knows the most about race routes in the Giro historically and all, but its still highly subjectively..

Many thanks Eshnar, it's another thing that makes the Giro more exciting than the Tour. With all the young grande riders plus an old squalo trying to outfox them all the expectations are very high. The countdown begins.

We're still like a month away from the real beginning :p

Not my place to question routes since I know absolutely nothing about them.

Found this comment from 2 days ago. Dont know if this has any credibility.

Sadly this giro course is not up to his amazing lineup of gc contenders ... and this is an incredible mistake by rcs (the organisers )"

Eshnar's annual preview always adds so much to the race for me. Thanks for the huge amount of work that goes into them.

As for the race itself, I really want to see a Bernal-as-the-second-coming-of-Contador coming out party but it will be tough.

Roglic seems to have no weaknesses whatsoever.

Great work on the extensive write up, giving us all of the details of the little (and some not so little) climbs that are not categorised. First 11 stages really don't provide a decent medium mountain stage as initially suspected, which is disappointing, and the stage 19 MTF is fairly underwhelming. However, stages 12-17 are perfect, and stage 20 could be very interesting.

Quick question. Given the current meteorological conditions, with a cold wave expected for the Alps this weekend and with some snow falling, what's the likelihood of a situation like 2013? I see that at least Gavia and Mortirolo passes are still closed to traffic.
