Too bad Le Samyn dont count... I have Senechal. Would have been a few points. Boom was there too

Edit: 116 points tbf

The top scorers would have been:
Salvarani 121
Leadbelly 116
BlackBandit222,Tobydawq 64
Nathanptz 59
AmisVelo, Madrazo 46
GPBlanco, JustSomeGuy, NorthAmericanScum, ThePirate81, Triley36 43

Salvarani would have a place on the overall podium, and Leadbelly would have the Green Jersey lead.

But I've deleted it from the spreadsheet already: it's not happening.

Philipsen 24th in Kuurne according to PCS.

Thanks for pointing that out: CQ have now updated that, so 5 points to teams with Philipsen (BlackBandit222,
Blues in the Bottle, Bminchow, Chiron, Joelsim, Josedin, North American Scum, Otoxiep87, ThePirate81) : nobody picked the now 31st placed and therefore pointless Kasper Asgreen.

In an effort to not be too late with updates, I post as soon as I can after CQ put up the full finishers list
(I can't do much before that, which is usually quite a delay already), and I can't promise to always notice all subsequent alterations to the result sheet, so please do point it out if it happens on other races. I will assume that CQ is (eventually) correct if results services vary, unless there is overwhelming evidence that they have made a mistake (although in my experience they are flexible and humble enough to acknowledge and change). Maybe I should allow 24 hours or so after the final race before I declare a definite result.

Race 3/21 Strade Bianche

180 points won today, MSR as a stated goal, and the Ardennes to follow, maybe Alaphilippe will prove to be the key to success that nobody tried in this game.

STYBAR Zdenek 4th, 78 for JustSomeGuy, LightBing and Tobydawq
BENOOT Tiesj 5th, 70 for LightBing and Scrool
VAN AVERMAET Greg 6th, 62 for Black Bandit 222
LUTSENKO Alexey 7th, 54 for Armchair Cyclist, Del 1962 and Salvarani
WELLENS Tim 10th, 36 for JSG
also 4 more of the top 20, and 10 other 5 point finishers, were among our picks

I'm not expecting many points from the Industria e Artigeano (did that name from memory, almost certainly got it wrong) tomorrow, but there will be an update, and it is just as relevant to the Green Jersey competition as Paris-Roubaix.

Race 4/21: GP Industria & Artigianato (GP Larciano)
No selected rider in the top ten...

(An hour later)
still only the top ten available...

(bit later)
No chosen rider among the top 30 who get points

(later still)
No chosen rider among the 90 finishers.

I know I said that this would contribute just as much to the green jersey competition as any monument: it would if I averaged out the points and gave everyone 6.47, but if you don't mind, I don't think I'll bother.

Don't do that. It's nice to be the only one with three digits :p

Race 5/21 Ronde van Drenthe

After the completely pointless GP Larciano last weekend, the Ronde van Drenthe didn't produce much more this week. I guess that the WT teams have their eyes on Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico, so their riders, and our picks, are largely absent.

I guess with more races becoming WT, those that are still 1.HC get less attention. We'll have some chat at the end of the game about how to select races for next year, but for now, I said it was in, so it is.

PLANCKAERT Edward 7th, 42 pts for Just Some Guy
DEMPSTER Zakkari 21st, 5 for Blues in the Bottle
SPENGLER Lukas 24th, 5 for So Last Year, and therefore not counted for Green Points
ALLEGAERT Piet 27th, 5 for Otoxiep87

Blues itB moves up 2 places to 11th, Otoxiep remains in 10th, and JSG retakes the lead, 24 ahead of Tobydawq rather than 18 down.

80 Green points to JSG, and 42.5 to the other two scorers. That means the points for positions 4-10 should be shared among the other 32 teams. But rather than give them all 1.91 points, and on the same principle as I didn't give everyone 6.47 points last week, I'll take that amount off the three scores that were achieved.
So that'll be 78.09 and 40.59.

3 Otoxiep87 91.59

Let's see whether Nokere Koerse on Wednesday is a bit more impactful on the scores.

So sad with van der Poel's accident. I really hope, primarily for him and all cycling enthusiasts, that he somehow got through that crash more unscathed than it seemed he did.

Regarding this game, I was beginning to think it would be very difficult to beat me, and if he had made a result today, I would be sure to get back on top even though Lars Boom didn't get a result.

Funny enough, it seems like I pass JustSomeGuy with 2 points because Lawrence Naesen of all people gives me 26 points.

And if van der Poel is unharmed, it looks very good for me going forward. I think almost all my team has shown excellent form this season. Most recently proven by the double top 4 in the Tirreno time trial with Langeveld and Bettiol. Boom and Vandenbergh have looked better than recent seasons too, Rowe has been a regular monster, L Naesen seems allright, and my three other captains, Trentin, Van Aert and Stybar have been some of the profiles of the spring so far.

Vakoc and Stannard are still a bit in the realm of the unknown.

Race 6/21 Nokere Koerse

This race might have had a much bigger effect on the game (and the classics season) than the points it has yielded, although more recent announcements suggest that Van Der Poel's injuries are not as bad as feared (I thought Gerts' and Moschetti's falls looked even nastier) and his schedule might be unaffected.

PHILIPSEN Jasper 3rd, 72pts for 9 teams
DEBUSSCHERE Jens 9th, 30pts for Bminchow, Laarsland and Salvarani
NAESEN Lawrence 10th, 26 for Laarsland and Tobydawq
PLANCKAERT Baptiste 14th, 12 for 4 teams
ALLEGAERT Piet 18th, 8 for 1
DEMPSTER Zakkari 23rd, 5 for 1

1 Bminchow 102 (Philipsen & Debusschere) (80 Green Points)
2 Otoxiep87 80 (Philipsen and Allegaert) (50 GPts)
3 BlackBandit222, Blues_in_the_Bottle, Chiron, Joelsim, Josedin, NorthAmericanScum, ThePirate81 72 (13.57 G Pts each)

The back and forth at the top of the table between Tobydawq and JSG continues: Toby's turn at the top, but only by 2 points. Bminchow (5 places) and Ototxiep (4) have the most significant top ten rises, Blues in the Bottle and Laarsland enter the top ten, and further down, the biggest leaps are made by Joelsim (10 places), Pirate81 (11) and NAS(12).

A busy few days coming up: We're back here on Friday (Koksijde), Saturday (Milan-San Remo) and Sunday (Denain): one of those will be key. I'd better treat the wife tomorrow...

Race 7/21 Bredene Koksijde (but the spreadsheet still refers to Handzame)

Bit part players from our teams mainly, so not many teams taking anything here.

HALVORSEN KRISTOFFER 2nd, 84pts for 5 teams
NAESEN Lawrence 7th, 42 for 2 teams
BARBIER Rudy 10th, 26 for 2
BOECKMANS KRIS 16th, 10 for 1

2 Safebet 110 (Halvorsen and Barbier, 50 Green Pts)
3 Chiron 94 (Halvorsen and Boeckmans, 35 Green Pts)

7 Bminchow 26 (5)
8 BlackBandit222, Josedin 5 (2.5 each)
10 All others 0 (0.04 G Pts each, so even I am off the mark)

Green Points
The top 2 didn't score today, but Laarsland is up from 10th to 3rd, and 2nd place on the day gives Safebet a top ten appearance with his first points.

Standings

For the first time, the lead is extended rather than swapped back, Tobydawq taking a lead into the first Monument. Laarsland (op from 10th) and Bminchow finally break up the dominance of the Stybar teams. Chiron moves up 6 places to get into the top ten, and the rise of the day plaudits (16 places) are shared by Safebet and Los Brolin.

The biggest favourites for Milan-San Remo aren't picked for the game (with the exception of Gaviria), but the unpredictability of that race, and the higher number of points available, mean that we should expect considerable shake up in the table.

Race 7/21: Milan - San Remo

Most of us had at least one of the top ten, because of 2 popular picks, but the top 5 on the day eluded all but one manager.

Standings

The close battle has turned into a dominant lead, with the closest contender this morning being second last on the day. It is now combining Van Aert and Trentin, (rather than having Stybar) that defines the podium, but having Stybar as well provides a large margin of lead. Josedin and Del1962 move into the top ten, but their rises are as nothing to that of Semir, who has jumped 22 places to 5th.

So, the guy who saw fit to select the retired Mat Hayman actually has a really interesting (half) team.

If I realised that maybe I would have gone for someone even more expensive that Naesen + another zero pointer. :D

I had to try something else this year, cause I tought that spending about 1000pts on guys with a semi-chance of making valuable points doesn't really make sense since most other teams will also select these riders. And I didn't have much time to compose my team so I somehow missed that Haymans last race was TDU.

I think your four-man army looks really strong. It depends a bit on Vanmarcke, though, he needs to step up. But Langeveld seems to be in excellent shape as well, so you have five good riders. And Naesen as a unique pick is a really good thing.

But seven riders who won't score any points are probably too many.

Race 8/21: GP de Denain

The fall at the bottom of the hill in Nokere last Wednesday was not as terminal to MvdP's spring season as first thought.

VAN DER POEL Mathieu 1st, 140 pts for 13 teams
BARBIER Rudy 17th, 9 points for 2 teams
DEMPSTER Zakkari 25th, 5 for the So Last Year group

The MvdP teams, getting 140 points and 17.38 Green points each, are:
Amis Velo
Armchair Cyclist
Blues in the Bottle
Chiron
Del 1962
Joelsim
Madrazo
Premier Andrew
Search
SemirS
ThePirate81
Tobydawq
Triley36

The teams with 9 points for Barbier are:
Bminchow
Safebet

Green points

Chiron moves up one place, SemirS moves away from the 3-way tie, and Blues in the Bottle appears in the top ten.

3 Otoxiep87 141.63

7 SemirS 97.42

Standings

Of the top 13, all but Bminchow and JSG have Van Der Poel. Madrazo, Joelsim and Triley36 are new in the top ten, all with 9 place rises, although three teams went one better, Premier Andrew managed a 12 spot jump, but Pirate81 tops the pile by jumping 13 spots. SemirS gets onto the virtual podium, despite a team featuring one retired rider and I reckon 4 others who will not even start one of these races.

SemirS in third place scored so low today that the top two now have a huge gap. Joelsim (4th from 9th) and Premier Andrew (6th from 12th) stake a place among the challengers for the minor placings, Laarsland nudges into the top ten, and Kazistuta has a ten place leap of the day.

About halfway through: the remaining races are, on average, of a higher status than those already raced, and on those grounds, might be expected to yield more points, but we always see a big change in the selection of riders, and teams, that score after Paris-Roubaix.

E3 on Friday, Gen-Wevelgem on Sunday: races coming thick and fast.
