Betancur should have won that. What was he thinking?
He doesn't get too often in such a situation to learn from his mistakes
He should've learned from that time he was in the last kilometer with Mohoric in a Giro stage in 2018 and he did the exact same thing.

I had been checking Geraint's Instagram post-TdF. All i saw was partying and restaurants, for months really and the kilo's came and came. I must say he looked really solid today and also rode a good prologue yesterday. I didn't expect he'd be in such good shape by now :p

The final 30-25km were pretty good, gc riders going for it.
Thomas looked strong, Swiss TV thought that Remco was the DQ rider, but Knox lacks the baby fat that he has, so it wasn't that hard to figure out. :D

I wonder if Roglic could have challenged Fuglsang in Liege when he is in this kind of shape?

RaF + flat finish suits him well.

Not bad racing at all.
I'm a bit surprised with the outcome of that sprint, but considering Roglic's form this spring - nothing's surprising anymore.
Good to see the riders are in the mood for racing already from the beginning.

No trace of Evenepoel

He crashed during the recon yesterday, before the prologue. That might have something to do with it. Even though Im unsure if he would have been in the front group either way.

At least thats what the commentator said today.

Still have to consider that 260 km, rain and such is another ballgame. Correct me if Im wrong, but has he ever done good in a one day race? People who know me know that im definitely not the chavaunistic type, some would argue the direct opposite in fact, but I dont believe anyone in the world could have followed Fuglsang on Sunday.

Looking at the weather forecast, Roglic might well get some "cold weather experience" later this week.

And another Slovenian is lurking in the shadows, licking his lips in anticipation, ready to strike in the Swiss winter.

Too bad Fatancur didn't have enough energy to go for it once he bridged to G.

Nice win by the ski jumper

He hasn't really tried it. Got 7th in Emilia and 17th in Lombardia last year. Doubt he was in great form either.

That 17th place doesn't tell the whole story, though. He did form part of the glorious quartet with Pinot, Nibali and Bernal but that killed him on the Civiglio.

Is his shape even that great. I switched in relatively late today so I didn't see everything but to me it looked like he got dropped before coming back with a group

Maybe not this year. Fuglsang has been a super saiyan.

But if the final is the same next year and he is peaking for the Ardennes, he has a good shot at winning it. I think he could do the same trick as Fuglsang. The new route favors a rider like him.

Based on what I saw in Lombardia, he has the potential be good in one-day races. But he needs to peak for those races.

Surely Viviani to win this one?

With Bennett in the race, I would be careful with the word surely in combination with a different sprinter winning anything.
