I tune in and the first thing I hear is Kirby saying "Simon Clarke with a good outside chance today" ... you cant make this stuff up. By now its actually hilarious how often Kirby mentions Clarke as a favorite for basically any race of the year.

Well to be fair, he did top 10 the Florence WC in similar torrential conditions + podiumed Amstel this year. But yeah, very, very outside.

Horrible weather conditions. The only reason we, fans, want this weather is for epic races. Other than that is dangerous and affect broadcast. Having said that we have had a very tamed race. So in better conditions could have been better. Go figure.

I don’t think people are quite grasping that this is extremely unusual weather for this time of year. Of course they expect and can cope with rain, it’s Yorkshire. But not rain like this.
