Kopecky clearly knew, because she didn't celebrate crossing the line 4th, so no excuses for the Dutch team.
Could well have been some Chinese whispers type stuff going around the péloton because we know Deignan, VV and VDB didn't know, seems ELB didn't either, but Kopecky looks like she did, Vos is now claiming she did, and CUL went and spoke to Kiesenhofer at the end when most people were congratulating Annemiek.

It sounds like (again, implying from second-hand reportage of van der Breggen's interview) they were told of the break gaps but not how many riders there were or that the break had split so they didn't realise when they caught the duo at 5 to go that they hadn't actually finished the job.
Again, do you really think the guys in the cars, in the feeding zones, along the road didn't know how many are out front?
If they are not able to communicate this to their riders it's their own fault.
Other teams obviously were aware of the fact that Kiesenhofer was still up front

What I really found a bit sad - at the finish line Kiesenhofer was standing all alone by herself, none of the other riders came to congratulate or even give her any sign of appreciation.

It gets even worse if Vos knew :tearsofjoy:

What an end to the women’s race…

I dont think the organisation is to blame, Kopecky def understood she had no medal so she knew.

It is quite embarrasing for VV but kinda sad no one seemed to go and congratulate Kiesenhofer. Even after they understood she had been in the front.
GCN showed Cillie giving her a big congratulations but no one else seemed to. The Dutch were nearby but probably in total shock.
