Year 1, month 2 3rd February to 1st March
Top scorers (of those we have picked)
FEDOROV Yevgeniy 195 (stage win and 2nd on GC in Langkawi, stage in Rwanda) for Vladimir
HAILU Biniam Girmay 129 (2nd in Laigueglia, stage podiums in Rwanda) for 6 teams
BRUNEL Alexys 107 (stage win and 3rd overall in Etoile de Besseges) for Archieboy
CEPEDA HERNANDEZ Jefferson Alveiro 59 (6th in Vuelta a Murcia) for Blues in the Bottle
HAILEMICHAEL Mulu Kinfe 55 (stage win and 9th on GC in Rwanda) for Amis Velo and Ludwigzgz

HONORE Mikkel Frølich 40 5
BENNETT Sean 39 2
VANHOUCKE Harm 38 1
WIRTGEN Luc 26 1
HEIDEMANN Miguel 25 1

And the unchosen Tesfatsion is again the best scorer of the month, and would already justify his place in most final teams, and Max Stedman will be considered to have been a bit of a miss too.

Standings
I am sure there won't be a bigger change of position than Vladimir going from last to 4th this month. Having just won the 2017-19 edition, Amis Velo takes the lead here, and whatever else happens between now and the end of 2022, Nicosix will be able to say that he too was among those who was at some stage in the top ten.

Standings

Alykaptan rises 7 places, the other teams in double figures this month are slightly less far adrift than they were. No changes of position above Scrool in 12th, so Amis Velo has the pride of top spot for about 3 months at least.

Year 1, months 4, 5, 6 and 7 (15 March to 2 August)

Very slowly waking out of COVID hibernation: the nearest we have to a headline result after 20 weeks is some Bulgarian 2.2s

BALLESTEROS CANOVAS Miguel Angel 31pts (GC 3rd in both Steps of the Romans and Tour of Bulgaria) for Koronin
BISSEGGER Stefan 15pts (3rd in national ITT) 19 teams
WAERENSKJOLD Søren 15 (3rd in national ITT) for Ray10
ANIOLKOWSKI Stanislaw 12 (from Dookola Mazowsza and Puchar Ministra Obrony Narodowej)* 3 teams
HAILEMICHAEL Mulu Kinfe 6pts 2 teams
BAGIOLI Andrea 5 26
CASTRILLO ZAPATER Jaime 5 1
DINA Marton 5 1
LOPEZ PEREZ Juan Pedro 5 9
ADAMIETZ Johannes 4 1
JACOBS Johan 4 1
TRACZ Szymon 2 2
ÄRM Rait 1 1

Remy Rochas was the best of those we all missed, 4th in Sibiu.

* No, me neither ( and yes, I copied and pasted rather than trying to spell those races)

And can I say how delighted I am to discover that there is a rider called Right Arm (well, Rait Ärm, but...) Probably came on the scene too late to feature in Courage beer adverts though.

Standings

Those who have stumbled out of the lockdown first were very low in the table moving into it, but Ray is off the bottom, and Koronin gets a 8 place jump. At the still possibly of limited relevance leading end of things, Archieboy enters the top ten and Nicosix moves up within it.

We should be back to monthly updates, assuming the resumption lasts, from now, but a month from now the Tour de France will be underway, so I might be a bit delayed.

Spreadsheet, hopefully, here.

To get the proper chronology, you should read the post that follows this before this one.

Year 1, month 9 7 Sept to 4 October

It was a busy month for the major riders (Tour, Worlds, Ardennes, BinckBank), but not much happening for the guys at this level.

Main selected riders this month
BISSEGGER Stefan 108pts (5th in Giro Toscana, 12th in BinckBank) 19 teams
VERMEERSCH Florian 93 (Antwerp Calssic win, top 20 in BinckBank) Otoxiep and Squire

Standings
Still early days and close scores, but Skidmark moves up to the top, and Bissegger looks like a serious omission for Amis Velo. Vladimir makes a good jump from 6th to 2nd, and Muddy Waters has his Mojo Working, Can be Satisfied, and might be celebrating with Champagne and a Reefer and feeling like a Mannish Boy (ok, I'll stop now) as he moves into the top ten.

None of this cohort were in the Tour, but one of them has already got a podium in the Giro, so next month might see a bit more scoring.

Apologies: I posted this at Velorooms on 9th September, but evidently forgot to copy it here.

Year 1, Month 8 3rd August to 6th September

The rate of scoring moves up a pace

BAGIOLI Andrea 234 points (Tour de l'Ain stage win, 5th in Emilia, 8th in Nats, stage win and GC 2nd in Coppi e Bartali) for 26 teams
EEKHOFF Nils 233 (2nd in Hageland, 2nd in Nats, 7th in Bretagne Classic) 23
SIMMONS Quinn 195(6th in Bretagne Classic, 2nd in Tour of Hungary, top 20 in Pologne) 26
ANIOLKOWSKI Stanislaw 110 (won National championship and Baltik-Karnonosze tour) for Alykaptan, Leadbelly and Nicosix
CASTRILLO ZAPATER Jaime 103 for Ludwigzgz
VERMEERSCH Florian 85 2
HAILU Biniam Girmay 58 6
OTRUBA Jakub 57 1

These scores are typically about 3 or 4 times the previous total for each team:

2 Nicosix 927 (Bagioli, Eekhoff, Simmons, Ankiolowski and Hailu)

Standings

This month's scores matter more than those over the previous (disrupted) seven, but Amis hangs on to the lead. Skidmark was already 3rd, now second, and this early podium completed by Nicosix, up 4 places from 7th. Five teams had a jump of 10 or more places, of whom Alykaptan is the highest placed. Two teams managed to drop more than 20 places.

The strangest October/November though, with Giro, Vuelta and a sprinkling of Spring Classics. But not many lower level races

When the end of year download is available, I'll do another update with the Year 1 data, but don't expect much change. It has been the smaller races that have suffered most from cancellation, and whoch are usually important in year 1 of these games: this is not going to be a typical edition. The leading scores at the end of Year 1 in previous editions have been 3777 to 4687 points.

If you just can't wait to see more numbers, here they are.

Year 1, month 11-12

In the end of year update, none of the selected riders gained any late points, or lost any in adjustments, but Moise Mugisha got enough points from winning the GP Chantal Biya in Cameroon to appear in the top 18 unselected riders list, the Collective Ignorance team, (and put himself out of eligibility for the next edition of the game), so the CI team is the top, and only, scorer this session.

Best possible team thus far, made up of the 18 top eligible scorers in the crazy mixed up season that was 2020:

That is a total of 3661 points. The leading score is 49.4% of what is possible, which is quite a lot less than previous years, but 2020...

Leading teams, and the members of the best possible team that they selected:

(the 9th placed team is another 58 points behind, but with 2 years to go and much bigger point hauls likely, other teams could certainly be contenders).

Year 2, Month 1 to 31 January

Not much yet:
STRONG Corbin got 37 points, mainly for winning GC in the NZ Cycling Classic, but also 5th in Gravel & Tar, for SafeBet
DALLA VALLE Nicholas 1 point for 3rd in a stage in Tachira for Otoxiep

and that is it, except that Arjen Livyns got enough points in La Marseillaise to get into the Collective Wisdom team and increase the score of that group by 15 points.

SafeBet's points were enough to move up him one place to 22nd; Otoxiep's single point does nothing to improve his placing.

Numbers

Year 2, month 2 1-28 Feb

January was all but wiped off the calendar, but now the year has got underway properly, although still early days for those for whom this might prove to be their breakout year.

Standings
Vladimir has Bagioli, but despite that not only lost first place, but falls all the way to 7th. Amis Velo is back on the top, and the top 6 scorers in February are the top 6 overall, although Fivezzz hadn't even been in the top ten last month.

Standings

Other than last August, this is the biggest set of monthly scores, so it is not surprising that those who did well this month are all towards the top of the table.
