OK, so it was no disrespect towards Remco, you're just not following very closely who got 1st in EC and 2nd in WC last year.
It's just that I expected some basic knowledge if you're commenting at a 3 post/day rate for the last 10 years, I guess I overestimated this! My fault!

Commenting at a 3 post a day rate has given me enough knowledge of the sport not to particularly care about the European ITT or to take seriously obsessional weirdos who become convinced that their favourite rider would win every race and then get all offended whenever anyone shows the slightest scepticism. He’s not going to sleep with you, you know.

Or maybe he’d have been blasted out of it every time the wind hit his wheels like all the other lighter guys (who are of course all heavier than him). Maybe.
Er... i suggest looking at what happened in Alkmaar. Where Evenepoel completely murdered the big & heavy boys at the European Champs last year, on a flat windy road. Ganna, Affini, Asgreen, Dowsett, Lampaert, Küng... distant noise.

PS: for those thinking the wind wasn't as bad in Alkmaar... Evenepoel's average time at the split: 59.2km/h.

This is how the finish looks now because of the wind

How do you know?

Anyway, I agree that we simply don't know what Evenepoel would have done here, although we can assume he would have been great. But he is light after all, and this course with this wind clearly favoured the bigger guys. Ganna was extremely strong, has the perfect style, is really tall and rather big. And he's also still young, so it's not too much of a surprise that he can still improve.
When Evenepoel comes back we will see what he will do, until then the others should not be told every time "but if Evenepoel had been here you would not have won".

I think van Aert still gained a bit in the curves, his line was pretty perfect.

I'm really looking forward to watching Remco race because, though I've never seen him race, I now understand that he's also the greatest cyclist in history. I'm also eager to stop seeing people constantly posting about how he would have won the monument he crashed out of, the Tour he was never supposed to race, the WC ITT, doubtlessly the Giro that he was supposed to race, of course the Vuelta...

Edit: I am actually not a Remco skeptic, despite the snark

No reason to get testy, like a little B**** buddy, I made a simple error in a hasty calculation.

If you are unable to show proper decorum, I'll happily add you to the ignore list :)
A hasty calculation? You've been claiming you were right for nearly 2 hours. How long does it take? I wasn't the one that was testy like a little ***, that was you. Who kept insisting you knew best eventhough 4 people had already given you ample hints that you were wrong.

Pardon me for working during those two hours buddy - obviously I should have been in here checking my math, to avoid you getting your panties in a bunch over it :D

That's not the point. People have been correcting you as soon as you started posting your calculation, yet you didn't even bother checking whether your hasty calculation was off, or not. You just assumed you knew best and kept insisting. So you were convinced for two hours you were right, and now that it dawned on you that you weren't, it's "just because of a hasty calculation" of which you were so sure that it wasn't hasty or sloppy that you had to keep insisting others were wrong.

Can the devs add a bot that deletes every comment which contains the words 'Remco' or 'Evenepoel' in race threads of races where the man doesn't participate?
Only if they make that a universal rule for all riders in all topics. That would deliver us from the usual BS in races where Evenepoel does compete but "it doesn't count because rider A, or B or C isn't competing". We could delete 25 pages of the first 30 pages of the Il Lombardia topic.

Was this due to the wind, or because of Ganna?
