Ya, he's a decent sprinter so was surprised, but he took the KOM jersey for a few stages in Tirreno so guessing he might be going for that in the early stages again here. Surprised they didn't sent two riders into it really considering it wasn't difficult to make the break.
He's good in bunch sprints after a hilly race, tomorrow should suit him well. Guys like him, Vendrame and Consonni have a much better chance on those kind of stages (Sagan should be the favourite and someone like Bevin can be up there in a bunch sprint on those kind of stages).

I remember it as one of the most horrifying events in sports that I ever witnessed. His funeral was at the Saint Peters Church in Ghent. Because my University at the time was 200 metres away, I skipped class and went to the square. The ceremony was on big screens and lots of cycling royalty and sport fans were attending. I'll never forget those two days.

The guy had a very charismatic smile and his wins in the Giro and Vuelta made me happy.

I remember that day like it was yesterday.

You were so more closely involved it must really affect you.

The scene and remberence brought tears to my eyes this AM. Rest in Peace Wouter.

Yeah me too. Even just thinking about that day still makes me tear up a little bit, and before that i had barely even known his name. I hate that the image of his body after the crash, which was shown only for a split second on tv is one of the first ones you find on google image search for 'Wouter Weylandt'.

Can't even imagine how hard it must be for his loved ones still to watch the Giro come around year after year and especially for his little girl who never got to meet her dad. :(
