Vingegaard is in holiday mode?

On this route and without a one day pedigree surely Denmark has 8 better riders they can find?

Probably gonna make Anders Lund's job a bit easier if a few riders take themselves out of contention for the lineup.

Vingegaard opted out of the Olympics to spend time with his family. He still has until the 13th of September to impress Lund.
But unless he has a deal with Lund, he obviously has to step up his game.

I wouldn't think opting out of the Olympics as the obviously best candidate would necessarily make him more likely for future selections...

Kristoff doing his daily interviews with huge sunglasses and black mask - what a Darth Vader look, but his performance on the bike so far hasn’t been that frightening.

I don't know how the relationship between Vingegaard and Lund currently is, or how much Lund tried to convince him to go to Tokyo, but it could of course affect at least this year's WC selection, when Lund has a pretty good pool of riders to choose from.

He doesn't appear to be someone who's generally difficult to work with, unlike how the other Rasmussen used to be at times, so I don't expect him to be left out when the routes suits him, unless too many other Danish climbers and/or puncheurs suddenly get their breakthroughs.

I don’t get the purpose of that Pedersen attack

He forced the other teams to ride, which made helped Skjelmose, plus he had an advantage which amde it easier for himself to survive the climb without getting dropped. Of course he won't win now, but probably he wouldn't have anyway.

Perfect anti-jinx!

That was very strong by Pedersen.

Also very strong rides by Hayter and Bennett. A bit of a shame that the stage was not a touch more selective in the second half,
