Congrats to Filippo Ganna for saying not ganna happen to van Aert. Evenepoel likely drank a beer to stay hydrated and to celebrate after. Good job.

As for Slovenians i didn't have high expectations on this race still they did a rather OK job. The truth is i had much bigger expectations for euro volley finale. And Italy again said not ganna happen.

Congrats Italy.

If there had been a U23 women's race, I think this would have been the result.

  1. Norsgaard
  2. Jaskulska
  3. Guazzini
  4. Georgi
  5. Pirrone
  6. Koerner
  7. Hernandez
  8. Janse Van Rensburg
  9. Kuskova
  10. Campos
  11. Ingabire

Labous was born in 1998, so she's too old.
And of course the reality is that the race would probably have been won by a Dutch rider, who wasn't selected for the Elite Race because, well... they have Van Dijk and Van Vleuten!

I'm not too sure about that. Guazzini won the EC title, and Van Anrooij, who seems to be the best Dutch TTer in that age category, only finished 8th. Wiebes and Uneken are not bad on prologues, but they wouldn't stand a chance on a 30 km TT.
Elise Uijen looks like a very promising TTer, but she's still a junior.

Also Van Vleuten wasn't selected over someone else (Markus was though), cause as the Olympic champion her spot was guaranteed.

Was she? Van Der Breggen also had a quaranteed spot, as the defending champion, so if she'd chosen to ride, the Netherlands would simply have had four riders.

Will it be a German, a Russian or a Swelsh victory?

I hope Ivanchenko didn't lose it through that corner.

She's only now to have her 17th birthday, so the youngest on the podium, right?

Yes, and only Jooris, Schmidsberger and Kvasničková are younger than her. But though Niedermayer is the oldest of the medalists, she definitely still has less cycling experience than the other two.

Still is. She is targeting the 2026 olympics when Skimo will be an olympic discipline for the first time.
I hope we'll get proper Skimo (pure uphill races or Marathon races with multiple climbs and descents) and not the sideshow stuff that they call sprint races.
