MVDP was the favourite for a reason. Biniam in second and clearly stronger than everyone other than Matthieu is more interesting - it looks like he really is ready to be one of the stars of the peloton.

I think all favorites came in the 4" group. Only Carapaz and Pello Bilbao in the front group.
Almeida, Buchmann, Nibali, Bardet, Landa, Yates, Dumoulin, Valverde, Ciccone, Hindley, Valter, Porte, Buitrago, Foss, Even Sosa, Pozzo, Carthy, Lopez. Lopez saved this one. As expetced he loses time in this type of stages along with Sosa. To me they saved the day.

Everybody else is behind.

He's got a great kick and has done well on short punchy finishes in the past.

Funny thing happened to me at the start. We decided to stay a bit far from the crowds when they were presenting the teams.

At one point my wife shouted "there's a rider right here loooook". And it was Tom Dumoulin. Turns out I was standing 2 meters away from Tom's wife / girlfriend / lover / somebody he kissed / whatever. They were so cute and chatted for some time.

Anyway he's as lean as I've ever seen him, I think he can do a great Giro. Check the picture.
