Exactly, this was about as much as what was realistic with this design. Of course it was going to be nowhere near as good as a proper Aprica stage, but some people continue to pretend the riders make the race and route design doesn't matter :rolleyes:
The sad thing is that it would even be improved if they just removed the Teglio climb and went directly from Mortirolo to Santa Cristina.

Final climb is hard enough for gaps of over a minute, it's 14km with half at 10% (so hard!) - I'd refrain from any judgement until they crest it.

Even better if you climb the Mortirolo via the Recta Contador (yeah, the name is still stupid)

the peloton have taken about a minute and a half back on a 5km climb without any GC rider attacking; the stage win is not set yet
