Schmid is the one taking the impossible line and trying to force himself in there.

Remember when Nibali beat Landa and we called him dumb for letting Nibali in through the inside with 75m to go?
Yes, to me it also looks like Schmid is the one to blame

Apart from the fact that the three best climbers are so close, they had too many mountain stages where the hardest climb came early. Whether some route tinkering would have helped who knows. Bora sound confident about Hindley's chances in the TT.

I think the whole break should be disqualified for slowing down that much in the final kilometres. BORA were trying their best in order to have them finish before the GC action began, but they just wouldn't comply.

So Bayer is the real winner of the stage.

It's like when you're crit racing, you can always get ahead of another rider if you simply dive the apex faster than everyone actually slowing down to take it within limits, but you always create carnage for everyone else exiting that apex. This is really frowned on in motprsport and of course crit racing, you just can't use that tactic, it's just not on imo, I noticed Jumbo did the same in Tour of Norway too, so might well be a tactic as difficult for jury to decide on apex moves like this.
