Really didn't think Ewan would be dropped here, and he look strong on that stage 1 finish pre crash. He's usually a much better climber than Cavendish too.

I have Ewan as being Yates levels of inconsistent with his climbing.

Remember Tirreno 2021, where was climbing like a Mareczko in the stage to Gualdo Tadino, only to be one of the best in the Poggio in MSR the week after.

Even this year he looked strong in the climbs in the 1st stage of Tour des Alpes Maritimes.

He was sick in that tirreno tho.
Ewan trained hard on minus 10 minute climbs, he's pretty good at them if there's only one or 2 in a race. He can go incredibly deep on one of those climb (poggio, first stage this year, etc.). He's bad at actual long climbs, this isn't new. What is new is that he's even worse than Cav on those climbs.
