Yates is an entertaining rider, so I started to like him. Sadly, he still often surprises with bad days that no one expected beforehand. This is really weird. He and the people around him are so experienced, and in his age, he knows exactly what works best for him.

He was humiliated in Asturias few weeks ago, and humiliated again, today. How disappointed Yates and the people around him will be this evening. It‘s just a sad, weird story. :(
I've totally figured Yates out okay, hear me out.

When I root against Yates, he can win the Hawaii Ironman.

When I root for Yates, he gets dropped on a trip to the grocery store.

THe team is in relegation battle they'll 100% drop Yates out and refocus probably for a Tour/Vuelta double while he still can. Or scoop Suisse or something.

They should give up on Yates as a GT rider imo. If he can't do it in the Giro, he definitely isn't against Pog and Rog in the Tour. Best he goes for stage wins or mountains jersey as he might be their best chance of that. If there's no injury or illness anyway, if there is, definitely need to pull him out.

- I've posted for over 12 months that Yates should ride 3 GT's as a stage hunter When Yates is riding for GC and he has has a bad day HE never returns to form to win a stage - Better to quit the Giro and get ready for the TDF.

So Bora-hansgrohe contested the win in every important hilly/mountain stage in WT since Volta Catalunya.

Yeah, they are super good at the moment. In Giro, they still have Hindley and Buchmann for GC. In TdF, Vlasov will ride for the podium. And Higuita will go for podium in Vuelta.

Ralph will want a GT podium now in 2022. I think, Hindley could become 3rd in Giro, Vlasov 3rd in TdF, Higuita 3rd in Vuelta.

Next step would be a GT GC victory, in 2023 or later. And top step for them could be TdF victory, one day. :)

Yup, I'd agree. Yates to me isn't consistent enough for a 3 week GT. I know he has one already and a top 3 in another but he'd be better off going for KOM jerseys and stages imo. He'd be perfectly suited for that, and then target the week long stage races for GC.

Congratulations to Jai Hindley for taking a prestigious stage win.

Too bad for Yates. A crash will do that and on such level if you are not healthy there will be a setback. All the effort invested in preparation for Giro and all is gone now. It's devastating. As for the rest. I have a feeling Richie wanted to do more today. The fact that cyclists such as Landisimo and Almeida didn't get dropped hints this race still might be open and alive in regards to GC. As for the Almeida. Pogi will likely regret not taking him to the Tour.

Considering what happened last year. To Landa. Lets see if this indeed could be the year where things click together for him. Having Tratnik would help. Still Landa managed just fine today.

First time i seen these style:

I wouldn't get too excited. Right now even a podium slot in the Giro doesn't seem likely to me although they are at least in the running. In the Tour there's potentially only one spot open if nothing crazy or sad happens and lots of competition for it. I also think that a Podium for Higuita would be a huge suprise. I honestly don't even see a top5 for him as a realistic goal. As it stand right now he will have a bad team that will get obliterated in the TTT and he will ship minutes again in the second TT. How should he be able to come even close to the likes of Evenepoel, Pogacar, Roglic, Carapaz and Mas?

But that's a discussion for another day. I honestly think the stage winning for Bora is a real important thing as they weren't able to win such stages in the past and there normal way of winning GT stages (Sagan/bunch sprint) are mostly gone. So winning the breakaway stages with Politt, Konrad and Kämna and being able to contest mountain top sprints with Higuita, Vlasov and Hindley gives them really a great deal of success. Wouldn't be suprised if Big Lenny Kämna strikes again this Giro know that he won't have Juan "el padron" Lopez in his face the moment he attacks.
