Must be said that there was a strong wind, not trying to justify the riders.

I don't even see what there is to justify really. You had 3 evenly matched explosive climbers (all of whom tried to distance the others) getting honestly pegged back by a diesel for most of the climb (and we know it's a tough climb). Maybe they make it stick at the top if they all coordinate but none of them wanted to be the one burying themselves for the others at that stage.

During the final week Nibali and Pozzovivo will tell those kids to get off their lawn, the future is now!
Fortunato seems to be improving after his crash on the Etna stage, Ciccone's meltdown is probably worse than what happened to Yates (even if it's Yates). Both Cataldo and Ciccone have been hyping Juape Lopez before todays stage, they said he was really strong during the Sierra Nevada training camp.

Beating Landa by attrition on the actual mountain stages seems like a bad plan, tbf.
If he can maintain the high performance for three weeks he wins. But, that was my point. Consistency will put Carapaz ahead. I am not sure if I am missing something here. If I were to put a favorite based on talent or potentiality of a rider I would have put Yates and Landa as the winners.

Landa was very smart. He knows his biggest opponent is Carapaz so why would he give a stage win to Carapaz?

ha ha ha

My pick for the Giro was Landa with Bardet to podium
But letting Hindley and Alamedia back in today was a mistake they will rue
Ineos burning Porte for nothing was also a big mistake
Waiting for Landa to attack....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggggggggg
Bardet losing the stage when he could have won it by not letting the others back ahhhhhhhhhhggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Ineos tactics ? Smart ride by Hindley especially the sprint by taking it from the front on that finish. No surprise with Landa. I have never seen Landa land a sprint even against one pacers like TJVG. Apart from Hindley getting back to form and Yates performance, nothing too decisive. Even the flounder was looking more shark like today. Valverde just finds it impossible to show up and not give it his all. Good to see Bardet in form as well. Looks like Ineos never intended to hold back Richie as a second option in what is possibly his final grand tour. Expected a little more from Carapaz but he will have plenty of opportunities later. Yates knee must be bothering him. Great ride by the pink jersey. Sketchy crash on the descent of the Passo Lanciano. He should buy a lottery ticket.

Yeah, but Landa usually looses races on the flat stages by missing a split, in the TTs or on hilly stages, not on the proper mountain stages. It was mainly about the fact that you should attack him on all kinds of terrain.
