Must be said that there was a strong wind, not trying to justify the riders.
Wait, Pozzovivo was in his 20's once? That's his normal attack, it was like that in his 20' too![]()
This must be a joke. If not, I would like to have your standards. My lifw would be way more beautifulThat was one of the most enjoyable grand tour MTF's that I've seen.
Or maybe Carapaz wasn't strong enough. The tactics were fine but the legs did not cooperate.Ineos so stupid
Beating Landa by attrition on the actual mountain stages seems like a bad plan, tbf.We knew Carapaz was the favorite because he was the most consistent. Not the most explosive. So by attrition he can just win the race. Almeida and Landa can falter an any minute. Now the question now is Bardet. He is consistent when strong.
If he can maintain the high performance for three weeks he wins. But, that was my point. Consistency will put Carapaz ahead. I am not sure if I am missing something here. If I were to put a favorite based on talent or potentiality of a rider I would have put Yates and Landa as the winners.Beating Landa by attrition on the actual mountain stages seems like a bad plan, tbf.
Carapaz seemed bizarrely hesitant to drive pace and take turns there in an attack he instigated.

BEX took a big chance by not bringing a sprinter as a fall-back in case their were problems with Yates - Bring a sprinter and you are swapping two for two - It was poor planning.
Landa was very smart. He knows his biggest opponent is Carapaz so why would he give a stage win to Carapaz?
Yeah, but Landa usually looses races on the flat stages by missing a split, in the TTs or on hilly stages, not on the proper mountain stages. It was mainly about the fact that you should attack him on all kinds of terrain. If he can maintain the high performance for three weeks he wins. But, that was my point.
