GP Denain
Timo Roosen (11th) was omitted from the early results, and he was a unique pick for Redhead Dane, who therefore takes 32 rather than 12 points from that race. She remains the 4th highest scorer, and is now the lowest scorer, because Guillaume Van Kiersbulck, who had been 30th, drops to 31st and therefore out of the points, costing DJSprsch and Search 5 points, and 12.5 green points, each.

So, when I do get points you just ignore them?!

Ignore? Not at all. I went to some lengths to give you the points that bring you to within 100 points of second last.

Really?

Really enjoyed the game and my run at the green Jersey. But my team has run out of steam, with only an sick Kron and out of form Bettiol left.....should have planned ardennes better! Laarsland is too good!

Anyone think they have sprinters to make any difference on the Frankfurt start list?
Well, the Groenewegen pick looks rather stupid now, seeing as BX doesn't line up in Frankfurt. To many of us have De Lie for it to make in impact.

The not-so-Grand Finale

Race 25:Eschborn-Frankfurt
The game is largely about getting some sort of balance between cobbles hard men, puncheurs and sprinters: today is all about the final category.

EitB won the first event, and now the last one. And another that was only one race away from being right in the middle of the series.

The final Scores

Green points

This has been rather a runaway victory: Laarsland has had 5 races as top scorer, 1 as second and today his third in 3rd place. Slow Climber has 2 wins and a joint win, but enough other placings to hold of Evans, who leapfrogs Otoxiep for the last podium spot in the minor classification. Los Brolin, only a five point finisher away from sharing the spoils today, makes a last gasp jump to the top ten, but because it is the last leg of the series, it's not only the top ten that I show this time.

CQ points
For several races up to Milan-San Remo it looked as though Laarsland was going to win this by a country mile, but his riders then seemed to lose their way and by the telling after the Ronde he was down to 6th. But he returned to dominance in the last quarter of the series, and has pulled of victory by an impressive margin. Madrazo has been best of the rest for some time, and the ever consistent Otoxiep rounds out the podium. Today's late surge from Evans is the Best brings him not only into the top ten, but the top five: an impressive leap at such a late stage in the game. But too late for him, or anyone else, to challenge the winner now.

The inter-forum challenge ends in victory for VeloRooms: 1064 to 1040

It's a non-working day for me tomorrow, so I'll track some data from this to put up then, but we all know that the important data tomorrow is the release of the CQ update that gives the prices for the Giro CQ Game: you only have until Friday morning, so get your thinking caps on quickly, and prompt a few others to join in the fun.

Thanks to all for entering, to the riders for the entertainment, and to the guys at CQranking.com for all the numbers, and congratulations to Laarsland and those who made it at least slightly competitive.

Top scoring riders
Inevitably, many of these were prohibitively expensive (the most that any manager did decide to spend was 816 on Sagan, least said about that the better), but some could have been afforded, and perhaps should have been more in our thinking than they were.

Best by RoI ignoring those who scored 10 or fewer points, unless they were selected (apologies that the latter group are not properly aligned).

How the Game Was Won
Laarsland's winning selection
He was joint 18th on the popularity chart, so the obvious picks were not the way to success. Unique picks Cosnefroy and Capiot were important, some of the top performing cheap picks (De Lie and Sheffield), although they were popular, made a good contribution, Kristoff was a worthy captain, and most of the cheap makeweights justified their participation. But not a totally successful squad, with Bagioli making the D'oh list, Ewan disappointing, and Naesen unspectacular. But still far better than the rest of us.
