Every year I sort of regret not having Le Samyn included in the game, especially a few years ago when I had 3rd place Gaudin as a unique pick.

What? Oh ***. I must have been thinking another game. No matter my team is shite. I don't know enough to know who will ride in these races. I always guess wrong. Come on Quinn on saturday!
Race 5: Trofeo Laigueglia
I haven't actually seen it yet (nor am I sure that it is available anywhere), but the results sheet makes me wonder what on Earth was happening.
No-one in the game is a big enough UAE fan to have based all their picks there, but someone who claims his allegiance lies elsewhere went close.
I have made an executive decision to change the scoring in the green points from previous years. After the teams above, there were 20 teams who were all joint 9th, and in the past I had shared the 3 points granted to 9th and 10th between them all, giving them all 0.15 points. Then I would have decided that it is handier to have 8 teams with odd fractions than 20 doing so, and I'd subtract 0.15 from all the scores. But I have decided that if you don't get a rider among the scorers, you don't deserve a point or even a fraction of one, so there are three points fewer in the green classification in this race than in most. Today it only makes a difference of 0.15 points: even if there were to be a race in which only one manager picks a scoring rider, this change would be worth only 5.41 points additional advantage.

TRiley, who seems to be specialising in the southern European events, so far at least, moves back up the table, and JVF positions himself as the main challenger to the top two: Rufs continues to pick up a good haul everywhere.
Strade Bianche should normally bring quite high scores in this game, but the favourites are prohibitively expensive, so who knows? Saturday will yield answers.

Wow, thought that I did quite well with Turgis and SKA but never expected it to be enough to win a monument in this game. A bit of poetic justice that it was Ivan Garcia who made the diffence. He has sacrified his own chances twice this week by being a perfect helper for Kanter and Aranburu. Hopefully he will be the protected rider for Movistar when they return to Belgium in the next two weeks...
