That was a hard sprint to the line, and a great win for Govekar, his fist pro win already!

lol at hollow. Why would Tronchon ride with Sivakov? Tronchon got the win and Sivakov gets a lead he probably loses on Lagunas de Neila.
Totally agree, that's why I said it was the perfect storm for him to suck wheels. That doesn't mean sucking wheels is wrong or right, it's a race, racing is about not using more energy than you need to, but it doesn't mean the win didn't feel hollow because fans generally like to see racers race, not wheel suck and sprint that's all.

By fans I take it you mean casual fans that watch the TdF once a year?
Because all actual cycling fans will acknowledge Tronchon did exactly what he had to do here.

Last year Burgos was full of crashes for the strongest riders. Landa won despite being in poor form.

I know, it just seems like such a long time since Aru was a factor.

But yeah, Landa was like 6th best on both mountain stages, but no riders were among the five best on both stages. It was quite a bizarre race.

I can't copy and paste it, but the progress of the time gap in the PCS livestats (here) shows a huge sudden leap with about 100km to go. Did something dramatic happen, or just mis-entered data?

It was before live images, so probably not accurate. Even during a pee break, the peloton usually rolls along rather than abruptly stopping.

Chris Harper finally doing his Vingegaard comparison justice. This is a good signing by Bike Exchange.

Supermán time! Although not the most impressive Supermán attack I've seen...

Movistar really are hanging everything on the Vuelta. They seem to be losing all momentum in the battle for the WT licences and are racking up anonymous - but not even the worthwhile - placings.
